John Prine 1975

Fine Prine time 1975 May - Vancouver, B.C.

Oh my, is not he a handsome young fellow. Now he is over 60 and a handsome gentleman, indeed.

I also saw John Prine in Vancouver, October 22, 1976. I saw clippings in the box I unearthed, newspaper clippings in black and white.

Missing Years must have fallen upon me as I did not see John Prine until 2005. I know he was in Vancouver in 1996, I had just moved to a suburb of Vancouver. Noisemaker was makin' noises, my Dad came down for open heart surgery, I was stressed and too busy to be a prinein'.

ah, good grief, the same Prine flutter I had back then remains with me today, it just grows stronger.

Mothers' Day

Geez, I almost forgot Mothers' Day is nearing. I loved, so much my Mom. I can still smell the scent of her lipstick. She wore bright red, she passed away, with pretty pink. Her lipstick was always placed in the same spot, on the right side of the bathroom sink.

My Mom loved Tender Tootsies, those flip flop things - like in the picture. She did not flip/flop like a politician does. She had strength, she was stable. Mom grew up on a farm, worked her butt off. She met my Father on a blind date, wedded bliss - a small civil ceremony at the city hall.

In remembering Mothers' Day, well - that is sort of/kind of our anniversary, the noisemaker and I. 25 years. Good Grief!

When I left my hometown to move with noisemaker, I purchased for my Mom a huge bouquet of fresh flowers. I went to the flower shop and asked if they could included this in the bouquet. It was a small lady friendly screwdriver. Mom always wanted one of those for her purse. The bouquet was beautiful, about ten days after she called me up and said, Bev - I found the screwdriver...only you would do something like that!

I love you always, Mom - I miss you.

It Is A Full Moon Tonight

Extremely peaceful here today, even the eagles have become quite sedate - all the wildlife has. Well, the exception of my fine neighbor, Chris.

The full moon does and always has affected folks. For those who tend to differ, well - you have not watched and listened to yourself. When the full moon occurs in your sign, yep watch out - you are in Wacko-ville!

I have visited Wacko-ville, it is not Prineville - not even close. Speaking of Prine, less than one month until OhBoy releases In Person & On Stage. That constitutes until two months for arrival. Exciting just the same. I really hope I do not get the crossing of the border fees. Yikers, I could well pay $100.00 for the Collector Combo set.

John Prine management should have a distribution centre, a branch in Canada. I'm game, I am not a moose, nor a cow. Yep, I can see it now - headline on blog reads

~ John Prine - Canada Welcomes ~

John Prine - Madison, WI - 2010.09.17

Prine Fans will be flocking on into the venue of the Overture on September 17th, 2010. Madison, Wisconsin.
Some Priners/Prinettes will be there in spirit, others will be there in person.
For now, I am going with Tom Reynolds (Crusher). He will flutter on in big time. The wings of se and jpp will carry him on him. We are from the north.
We have wings of a snow white dove.
Who is beaming in this photo?
Charlene Stevenson with Al Bunetta (management of John Prine).
I would just call the fellow, Al. The last name, how does one say...
Bun - etta? Bune-tta?
I must ask....you know when I meet him. ;)

I Don't Have A Subject

I don't have a subject, I have many. Of course, I could post and new subject - but eh, time is precious, like us all.

I did not get to view the Elvis Costello Bruce Springsteen - part one. Noisemaker had to watch some program on Hilter. I have, I hope reserved the tv for the part two viewing on May 1st.

We went to the village today, the doctors' appointment. I am a small picture of health. My bone structure is good. I have a 20% chance in 20 years of breaking a bone - that is as long as I do not fall on my perch. The doctor in charge, well - he understands - how I broke the wrist. The dancing on ice with no control swing dance. Now, if I can have clear sailing with my beating heart and decrease on the cigarette smoking - lordy - I'll be prinein' forever.

At the drugmart today, I noticed a sad, little girl in a motorized wheelchair. She smiled at me. I returned the smiled, waved, and noticed a man near to her. I said hello and waved. The young girl started to make sounds - the man walked away - I walked towards her. I waved, I said holy doodle, it is a stormy day out there. She sort of lowered her head and said words. I could not understand them but I proceeded. I holy doodled for a minute or so, she did sounds, the man came back. He nodded at me - said thanks. I said, it is nice to be acknowledged, to be said hello to, nodded.

I removed myself from the store, went to the vehicle, and cried.

Sometimes, you think you have not played your cards right or left in life. Then you see someone who never got the chance.

Spectacle Springsteen Saturday

ah yes, in Canada - today - we finally are able to view Spectacle - Elvis Costello with Bruce Springsteen, oh the hunk! Check your local CTV listings.

My fine neighbor, Chris, dropped by this morning to return noisemakers' hat. Apparently, noisemaker lost it on Thursday when he decided he should visit Linda on Mars. Smucksville, must have been quite a sight, a sight to which I was glad not to behold.

Chris mentioned today that on his tv schedule he saw a show, Spectacle Elvis Costello - and did you know Bev - John Prine was on there! I thanked him for thinking of John Prine and I. Thanked him for saving noisemakers' life.

John Prine - In Person & On Stage

Holy Smucksville - can you believe it - here is the picture and I know ohboy records is just waiting for my telephone call. I must dial them up today and speak with Jon. I'll be thrilled, I love talking to folks on the telephone. I know the young lad will be busy filling up orders (see more at http://www.musicfansdirect.com/ or http://www.jpshrine.org/).

I could well chatter on and on (be in prineville flutter) and tell Jon about living on the mountain side in the middle of nowhere but I probably will calmly say, it is a nice sunny day here - how is Nashville?

Lydia is doing very well, she has not stumbled, her head has not broken and rolled down the hill, she remains a picture of lasting beauty. We had rain/snow/sleet the other afternoon, did not have any effect on the big Lydia. She was cool, I thought I should go and put some rain gear on her, but I am trying to teach her to be strong with the elements of nature. As soon as I can locate the location of where noisemaker has hidden the batteries (I hope they are eveready), I shall take a photo of her beauty - every inch of it and share it with you folks. I forgot to mention, she has Prine fingers. The suncatchers - 'P' for Prine. They so sparkle in the sun, you can see the colors of the rainbow. Although as my fine neighbor, Chris will tell ya - he sees more than the colors of the rainbow.

Wildlife

We have a flutter of activity. Sandhill cranes - a pleasure to see. The eagles have returned in full force. The deer - well there were 12 here this morning.
The early morning activity is a workout. You do not know which window to look out. I braved the factors and went out to join them. It was 6 o'clock a.m. , it is raining, it is cold - no place for a 54 year old.
It is a tough trough to plough for Noisemaker. He appreciates the wildlife what he does not appreciate, is toe tappin' - head noddin' - john prinein' near dawn.

Hold Your Spark, It's Religion

I have viewed some posts over the past couple of days about folks and their valuable religion points of view. I am glad they have their treasures.

I do not spark religion, the only religion I have is mine. It is my faith and my point of view. It does not constitute kneeling or praying. My knees would never hold up, I cannot bring my left hand to clasp with the right.

Court religion, a lot of folks do. I am not one of them. My Dad had it drilled into his skull, whereby his Mother and Father, prayed to the holy on Sunday morning and drank whiskey Sunday evening. But eh, could not feed all their children on any given day. My Dad broke into homes of folks, just to get food. He stole cheese, eggs, anything from a freeze box. He would take it home to his younger siblings and no doubt, probably just sat down and wondered - why.

My Mother, she believed - she always said she wanted The Old Rugged Cross played at her funeral service (my brothers could not quite get that together) - {no problem, I played it for her last time I visited her, I sang it to her from John Prine/Mac Wiseman -Standard Songs For Average People}

About the nearness I can get to religion is some song by John Prine - The Missing Years.
....and jesus said god...

God, I want to win lotto. God, I want a big huge bust like Dolly Parton. God, can you help me?

Oh yes, god if you are listening to me - send me John Prine and his family - Fiona and the kids. A lovely little hideaway nestled up in the mountains of rural British Columbia. God, tell him to bring his guitar, bring two. Do not venture up before the month of August - my left is broken, I am one armed.

Oh no, I do not have a gun, but I have a high pressured washer, holy smuckville. Noisemaker fixed it up today. PSI, no words.

Trying to focus, god does not focus well on me. He makes me step on to the porch. He makes me smoke a cigarette and jabber to the Noisemaker. And, god - this is life on the mountain side.

Focus - oh yes, the new John Prine. I tried to dial up to MFD/OhBoy, it was not my time. Tomorrow, I will kneel down and pray I get through.

Our Johnny who arts in Nashville
Thy day for your cd (and I love Johnny t-shirt) nears
Thy will be Prineville on the mountain side
As it is in Nashville, forever and ever - Prine Amen.

Lydia

I have been reconstructing Lydia, my scarecrowette this morning/afternoon. Oh, she does look delightful. A new blue ensemble with celtic trim suspenders and matching belt. Her red lips are of the red light district but do highlight the red in floral scarf which graces her slim neck. The wind was blowing hard after I got her all erected and poor Lydia hit the dirt. I leaned her up on a tree and gathered her attire but then she fell again. Her head broke, it went rolling down the hill, I could not hang on to all her body parts. While her head was rolling down the hill, I had her in my right arm doing the best I could do. Who shows up, my fine neighbor - Chris. He starts laughing and says to me....Oh Lydia - Bev - she is broken and where the *+c& is her head...here let me help you. Chris takes Lydia and props her up on the picnic table. She needed to rest after that ordeal.

Noisemaker came out and assessed the hole I had dug for Lydia. It needed to be bigger, prined up. So I dug the hole, slapped some bricks around the right pole of her body and in the ground she went. She is still standing. Tomorrow or later on this afternoon could be a different story. If I find her on her back again well, I will know Donald has paid a visit.

John Prine - Spectacle

I watched Spectacle last night only because of John Prine. He was the Spectacle. He sang Lake Marie, alone. He comments on that.

As for Lyle Lovett, well he does not speak well in his interview with Elvis. Ray a different story, he is Prine material.

Lake Marie, - it was bittersweet, I thought of Tom Reynolds. If I heard correctly, Mr. Prine spoke of some folks concerting him for 100 concerts. I cannot recall when this Costello show was recorded, but I do know Tom Reynolds was on the side of living, he was with us on earth.

I noted gold hardware on the fingers of John Prine - he has gold, gold inside of him. I got gold, gold inside me to!

His boots they relate to toe tappin', head noddin', john prinein'.

Tomorrow - It Is A Busy Day!

oh alas, Bruce hits the stores tomorrow - some of you lucky city folk maybe able to purchase. Not for the gal from the mountain side, I will have to wait.

Also tomorrow on CTV, Spectacle with Elvis Costello - oh low and behold - John Prine! Good grief, finally it is our time.

More than one time I have had occasion whereby Bruce releases then John Prine or visa-versa. I wonder where the heck is Neil? teehee, he never seems to quite fit into the mold.

I am rebuilding Lydia, my scarecrowette. I have her body built; but I had to break. I can barely hold the hammer let alone slam it on down. It is a lil bit at a time. Her ensemble this year will be much the same as last year, only this year she is dawning new lips and a new hat - ah, she will be a picture of beauty.

Oh Boy Records, Again

Finally, I have located the to whom the 'other' women is...It is Nancy.

Nancy was instrumental in the development of 'chat' on www.//http:jpshrine.org

The sideways lass is Reeda Buresh.

teehee, I guess they go for that french thing in Nashville at OhBoyRecords - there seems to be that right thing over the 's'.

hahaha!

Day of Recoup

I have not gained recouperation from yesterday, my trip down the mountain side spent me. Today, noisemaker is going to have a small fire, we are permitted - for now - to do so.

I have placed all the groceries we purchased yesterday at Costco and Wally World away. Noisemaker is very happy, he loves it when he sees the shelves in the pantry are loaded.

I'm a odd. Most women, while shopping for upper gear would opt for some pink, lil bit of a frock, not me. I go for the lumberjack shirts. I found two at Wally's by Levi Strauss, regularly $24.99 - I got them for $9.00 each.

Geez, noisemaker actually did the 'let freeze this'. He had much kitchen time this morning. I opted for John Prine, I am listening to - The Missing Years. I have been rather stuck on the missing years, think it is because I do not want to fall off my perch nor reside at 23 skidoo.

I do not know anything about religion. I have religion, but only my religion - to which no followers I have. I will never sell the farm. I would rather turn 60 and dance with a hula hoop!

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

eh, my day. . .

Down the mountain side we go early, early this morning - early - awake at 4 a.m. Noisemaker did. He clanged on in at 10 past 5 and I acknowledged yep, time to awake. By 5:30 a.m. he was standing at the door, awaiting for me. For the love of god, I barely had time to coffee with the limited wildlife and brush my teeth then we were on the road to the city.

We were lost for several moments, not that we missed time - only sleep. We found the bone test factory and a most interesting conversation I had with the bone tester in charge. "Where do you reside" she asked. I laughed. Replied - side of the mountain blah, blah, blah. She quickly acknowledges and knows of the place I reside. Ah, I am thinking - mind it is a tickin'...pot capital of the world...I laughed. Bone tester has a series of question for me...comes to - do you smoke - oh yes, I do, but not pot, only cigarettes. She goes into near the life of Linda on Mars with laughter, I mean big laughter. She props my knees up, fixes up my hip and foot - we are off to nuclearville. The test is done, complete.

She tells me you are very petite - I replied why yes, I am - been that way for near 55 years. It is no surprise to me. Where the door prize may lay here is no doctor asked me how I fell. They were concern that I fell on ice and being less that 5' tall - well, it's a short distance. Oh my deary, dear - you are fragile.

I fell on a hill blanketed with glare ice. I lost traction, I slid approximately ten feet. I had not a choice, my feet danced, I fell down the hill. I am thankful I did not hit my head. When I landed, I was able to get up - ah, then the noisemaker was there.

We proceeded to the village hospital and the rest is somewhat an on going history.

Let it be know to all - I am fragile, I am 93 pounds, I am 4'11". I am not going into a ring with any UFC guy nor Rocky. I can fling 2 x 4 flingers at cows and I can chase them. I am strong willed and no, I am not a bitch. Actually, I am badged at being quite a good hearted woman :)
who does the Wally World, Costco aisles, takes Noisemakers' bellars. I sing John Prine and yep when I dressed today I dawned up the John Prine sweat shirt - John Prine Live - oh but not 2010 - long ago sweat shirt. I will get the I 'Heart' Johnny t-shirt soon - it'll be a John Prine thrillville day! You know he has that new cd coming out - In Person & On Stage. geez, did I not write about that. . .

...another day in Paradise...

Spring has arrived on the mountain side. The birds are flocking in and I think I shall now proclaim I have a bird sanctuary. I must get a name - any ideas - all would be welcomed.

Tons of birds have came to visit. Chickadees, Flickers, a variety of Woodpeckers, geese, ducks, and eagles - no doves. Good Lord - I fear if I ever saw a dove here, I would fall off my perch.

We had a blizzard fly through here about four days ago or so; power on/power off. Snow and big wind, trees were down on power lines (made the hydro boys very busy). Nothing riles up my blood pressure more than having no power. Oh teehee, that is not true - noisemaker can rile up my blood pressure with all his cursing and his attitude of negative.

I have been trying to type with both hands, oh lord - the left fingers hurt bad, but I do keep trying....type then rest, type then rest. My left wrist looks like it has be shattered, it looks close to the side of being deformed. The bump that a person has on the outside of the wrist, oooohhwheeww, I got a big one now! I told noisemaker; I think I am developing a new breast on my wrist - lookee here. Gotta keep on the sunny side.

The right wrist also has a lump; sometimes it hurts more than the left. The doctors will not be dealing with it until the left shows signs of full recovery. I think that means they must want me to spark up on the left. Maybe I should revolt or perhaps (in my calm, natural way), just raise my left arm up and make a fist.

We are flocking off the mountain side to the city on Tuesday. I have to have some bone test done due to the breakage/shattering of the wrist. It is a money making opportunity for the doctors and for Costco. Noisemaker he loves Costco. I am not a shopper. I do up a list and I stick to it. There is none of this going down each aisle and 'oh look at this' and 'oh, I need this'. It is my preference to get in and get out as fast as I can move my feet. After Costco we move to the Walmart (take a look at Walmart). By this time, all I can think of is french fries and a quarter pounder at the golden arches. Oh lord, I could taste that junk food.

After all that junk food and shopping, we make a 2 1/2 hour drive back home. There is no cd player in our vehicle - which is kind of good. Noisemaker and I would have words...I want John Prine...he would want Abba.

...what do you want to be when you grow up...jesus said god...oh my god - what have I got myself into...I am only 5' tall, 90 lbs, and my crime is none.
Costco is going to kill me Mama, I'm your rosebud
But noisemaker goes down every aisle, not a step of quick
Them corporations love him and he isn't even rich...

Mashed Potatoes, Driving, and of course, John Prine

Yesterday, was a fine day indeed. I managed to peel potatoes - god, it was thrilling. Oh lordy, then to eat them with butter a-melting - oh, it was near heaven to me.

It was noted yesterday that John Prine is releasing a new cd - In Person & On Stage. Geez, I thought my heart was going to be still. I regained and tried to focus knowing full well with my pounding heart it'll probably never stop as long as Neil, Bruce, and John keep playing their fine music.

You can download 'She Is My Everything' for free. See http://www.jpshrine.org/ and follow the linky links. I was up bright and early trying to accomplish this feat today. Do you know what it is like trying to download on dial up. It may as well be called dialdown. I sat for two hours waiting for it to complete and I do not sit well. I finally gave up at 83 % and 2 1/2 hours. I shall try another day or await til purchase. I have to purchase that new I (Heart) Johnny t-shirt also, so I will call up Music Fans Direct (that will be a delight day). See http://www.musicfansdirect.com

Last but not least, my goal this week was to drive the van. I have not driven for months due to this (many curse words) left wrist. Today, I ventured on the roadway. Well, actually - first I have to get out of the driveway...a big turn I have to make. Something snapped up my arm, I was near to give up and pack it in but thought get to the dirt road, go girly girl. Off I went, another corner is coming up, I slow the vehicle down and try my best. It did not go all that well, the turn that is. I drove down the dirt road primarily utilizing the right hand. I love to drive and listen to the radio - eh, oh on come the Beatles singing 'Come Together'. No John Prine, Neil Young, or Bruce Springsteen but good just the same. I sang my way back home. I was pleased with myself and next week I may attempt to venture to the general store.

Fair And Square, I Need Your Help

A good friend of mind has hit some gravel on his road of pavement. I am not all that good with the prayer factor so if I may request you all give a listen to Fair And Square by John Prine sometime late Wednesday or Thursday morning. I would really appreciate that, I know my friend would too.

Life sucks sometimes and it is a sad, fallen situation to be taken advantage of when one is level on the level and the other is on the other side of town - fallin' off the perch.

I hope you all join in.

Thinking Of You - Good Luck

Birthday Greetings

Today is special - two birthdays. My grandaughter, Kayla turns 11 today, good grief! As most of you know today is also Tom's birthday. A very special day indeed. I even baked a chocolate cake! It is going to be so good.

I knew I would weep this morning, I was just in that way. I watched the Waltons - that show always make me leak. I read my calendar and noted the birthdays today. Kayla, she was born shortly before my Mom passed away. I try to keep them separated but it is difficult. Then Tom's birthday. I miss him, I miss his cheery Crusher ways.

Oh alas, then I wandered out to the deck and thought well I should just dance and sing. So I broke into Fly Me To The Moon and danced! Oh made me feel much better.

John, Billy, and Johnny

Geez, I tell ya - those posts, photos of Billy Prine got me to Johnny Horton.
I can see John Prine singing North To Alaska...and when it comes to the line...and 'brother Billy too' - there steps in Billy Prine.
Here it goes...
Big Sam left Seattle in the of 1902
With George Pratt his partner and brother Billy too
They crossed the Yukon River and found the Bonaza Gold
Below the old white mountain
Just a little south east of Nome
