Yikers, I Am Odd. . .

Today our seasonal neighbors were over to visit and we all got lip flappin' about the left and right side of the brain.

I asked the question well, if you write forward - can you write backward?  They looked at me as if I have lived far too long on this mountain side.  I got a pen and paper - wrote my name out.

Of course, we are all middle age and no one can see without the mega enlargement, so I shared my glasses.

I, then, wrote their names on a separate piece of paper and showed them the paper.

It was pure wowsville for our neighbors when they turned the paper to the sunlight/window and were then able to read the words I had wrote.

Now, go, run - get the pen and paper and try to write your name backwards.

And, what does it mean...I have no idea.  I am left handed writer.  All sports activities I do right handed.

hahaha - I should have noted first - can you read the picture?

To you and yours, have a nice left or right weekend :)

Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Springsteen does Rio. . .

Good heavens, I actually got to watch Bruce in Rio last night, it was unbelievable to me.  As I viewed, I thought to myself, this is incredible - here I am on a mountain side - there is Bruce in Rio.

Happy Birthday Bruce Springsteen, born September 23rd, 1949.

September 23rd, 2005 was the day I arrived on the mountain side.  A learning experience, it has been.  I never dreamed in my wildest dreams - life for me would be this way.  Not that I am a city girl, I truly do not like to shop.  I am not a country girl; I am in the middle.  I like the country life style for its' peace and nature.  I like the city for the people.

I like people, I like to lip flap.  Geez, could you tell. . .

A 17 year old John Prine ~ I love your swinging 60's do, great family photo.

John Prine - Take A Look At W&lMaRt

A few years back, my friend Naj had made a comment about doing some shopping at the W&lMaRt.  I cannot recall all the details but do remember the song of John Prine - Take A Look At My Heart came into play.

When it did, I took that to heart and made for Naj the suncatcher you see in the photo.  Naj, in her great wisdom, put it in a very safe place.  She went years without finding it.  I would ask her via email - have you found the W&lMaRt heart?  She did reply, I know I put it somewhere - safe...

Today, she found it - safely hidden under a knitting book.  Well Done, Naj.

You don't know what your getting into
She's gonna tear you apart
You're going places I've been too
Take a look at my heart
Take a look at my heart

Jason Wilber

Recently ~ John Prine, Jason Wilber, and David Jacques were guests on the Colbert Report.  Songs played were How Lucky Can One Man Get and Paradise.  Stephen Colbert joined in on Paradise.  My favourite John Prine song.

Oh Look. . .

My mushroom suddenly received a friend...now how did that happen?
Just too cute!

The Mushroom

A mushroom I found today after our heavy rain of this morning.  All is beautiful, sunny, and warm on the mountain side.
Nice picture I took.  I like the dots and ridges - but eh, I am not going to eat it.

A nice weekend to you and yours.

Ladies and Gentlemen - Welcome - The Prine Brothers

A young Billy and Johnny Prine - Maywood, Illinois - 1958 or so...

Billy has such spunk in his smile.  His right hand clenched to his perfectly ironed pants.

On the other hand, our young Johnny seems to very relaxed in this young photo shoot.

Billy, today shades Johnny in the height factor.

The first time I saw John Prine in Vancouver in the late 70's...this tall fellow came to sit in a row in front of me.  Yes, I was in row 5.  He waddled along and raised his knee proceeding to sit - I wondered what was that patch on his leg - so I asked him...he replied - Backstage Pass.

To the front row of us sat Billy Prine and the first wife of John Prine - Anne Prine.  It was a family affair.

My start of toe tappin began. . .

Around The Yard, Today

Labor intensive work done by a chipmunk.  Stashing sunflower seeds for winter.

Near flowering garlic.  I can't wait to see it in full blossom.  First year I have planted garlic - out of the five I planted - one grew.  It is an intriguing plant to grow; it twists and loops around then straightens out and goes to the blossoming stage.

Mountain Ash

The beauty of the Mountain Ash.

We do not have the Mountain Ash Tree in our yard, but my seasonal neighbor does.  Sure is a splendor of beauty.
