Janis, Jason, & Jesus - What Have I Done

eh, just too funny. This morning, noisemaker and I decided to burn off at the pit. We have mega, mega deadwood but we also have a fire ban. I wanted to walk up and get the mail so noisemaker said he would attend the fire.

Oh my, I got the mail and there were THREE notices of parcels to be picked up. Lordy, I get so excited when I receive parcels. I came back home and asked noisemaker to continue pit watch while I go to tend to thank yous' for the folks that sent me parcels.

Now, parcels - I have to travel about 35 miles to the post office when the parcels do not fit in the box, but that is ok - we work the travel out when we make a trip into the village. I called to the post office because I have to know who sent me parcels. Audrey, she is a happy-go-lucky lady and she gave me the list.

There was a roll up (that was from OhBoy - it is the poster), another parcel from my brother, and the last parcel is from Janis (skunkeyejan). I proceeded to email the folks (with the exception of OhBoy) and tell them the parcel is received at the post office and we will pick up on Friday.

For the email message to skunkeye, well. . . she is preparing for an adventure - she is very busy. I told her she best tend to the laundry, get the clothes folded, get suppers done, tend to the kids...only thing was I sent the message to Jason Wilber! Janis/Jason - yep - they are very close on the contact list.

When I realized what I had done, I returned email to Jason and said - Pardon Me, that message was not meant for you...Best Regards...

Then, I wrote to Janis and explain oh my, I sent a post to Jason instead of you. Too funny - this will keep me laughing for a day or two.

When I had a moment I went and change the contact information for Janis to a nickname I have for her. Naj - that is Jan spelled backwards. She is now located in "N". She stands alone. Fear not Jason, I will not again tell you to get the laundry done, get suppers complete for the week, fear not!

Some folks would find this embarassing, I do not. I am human, I make mistakes. I get things rollin' in my mind, it just overloads. Well, actually - it doesn't really overload, it mixes very well together. Just like some John Prine songs do. I have those new verses of Long Monday and Saddle In The Rain blending very well. I can go from Late John Garfield Blues into a song by T-Rex.

Thank god noisemaker is tending the fire; I would not want that to blend in with anything.

Blossoms

Wild Lupins. I include the dandilion as it does serve to remembrance of my Mom.

Just prior to her death, she was hospitalized in Vancouver, at that time we lived in a suburb of Vancouver. I spent many days with her, I'd take the train in. There was not much that the doctors could do. She was failing.

On the last visit to the hospital, she told me she saw her Mom/sisters. The names she gave, well - they all had passed years ago. I knew she would be joining them soon. She had seen the dead.

I asked her to tell me, what did you do with your sisters - your Mom. She proceeded to tell me how they picked dandilions. She laughed and said we (her sisters) picked bouquets of dandilions for our Mom, (my Baba).

I miss you all.

John Prine - Memphis - June 5th, 2010

In the photo is Donna and Keith Sykes taken 2005 at the Orpheum in Memphis. Thank you for the photo Donna.

Oh My, OhBoy - It's Prine

After hugging my delivery package from OhBoy Records, listening to the IP&OS, viewing endlessly the deck of cards and my new t-shirt. I was nearing not Prine overload. I awaited Letterman.

The new John Prine - In Person & On Stage - well, it is like you are right there. John Prine IS in your living room. The dedication to Tom Reynolds and listening to My Mexican Home, I brought the box of kleenex/tissues. Cried my little eyes out and I never met Tom Reynolds.

Odd how it is when you meet these folks on line and you become one big Prine family. You care for them, you have feelings for them and their loved ones. I have an extended family, but I never dreamed it would carry on to on line. I have a virtual son, Chad. I have sisters mega. I have RS and Florida John. I have Chuck from over yonder - cross the pond. I love it all and I am thankful for it. My life has been enriched by Prine Friends!

In the parcel from OhBoy they give a card to download - good heavenly days, I will not live that long to download. I am dial up/dial down. I am giving my card to my brother (he is on high speed), maybe he can download and burn for me. I did contact OhBoy to see if I needed permission to do so. OhBoy should have made a package deal for the Tribute and IP&OS. I tell ya - nothing pisses me off more than paying border crossing fees. I got a bad bee stung and paid double from musicpress. It is hit and miss and by no means is it the fault of musicpress, it is a governmental issue.

Letterman - well, I was rather disappointed that Letterman did not take a moment to speak with John. I do not watch Letterman but understand he does not rightly or lefty communicate with his musical guests. ah...but did they not all look good. Prine Supreme!

Such a nice note I had from Jason Wilber via the wordpress today. His notes on being on David Letterman. How nice is that when a musician takes the time to take notes and send it on to his fans. I visit a few websites and did mention John Prine/Jason Wilber/David Jacques would be on Letterman.

Bottom line - enjoyed John Prine - but who is the guy playing guitar - that hunk. I returned post -...my friends - that is Jason Wilber!

It Is A John Prine Day!

eh, I got it in the mail today - oh my! New cards, a t-shirt and best of all, In Person & On Stage! It's a Paradise Delight (I am Paradise Wavin' - hootin' and hollerin').

Bonus - David Letterman tonight - John Prine with Jason Wilber and David Jacques.

Family

Thank you Jaden, for the photo.
Yours truly, noisemaker, Greg, and his daughter, Kayla.

Greg and Colbey

My stepson, Greg ~ and his son, our grandson -Colbey.

Thank you Kayla for the photo.

Artwork of Kayla

My granddaughter, Kayla made some drawings for us - priceless. She is so special to us. All the grandkids are special to us.

We had just listened to In Spite Of Ourselves (John Prine). She liked the rainbow part...we'll end up sitting on a rainbow...hence the rainbow in the middle of the photo. Under the rainbow is To: Gramma and Grampa - Kayla S.

I had purchased special treats for them and cooked mountains and mountains of food. We have not many leftovers, the loved everything!

Such a special weekend, it was.

WOW!

My stepson emailed yesterday morning to say he and the grandkids would travel to our abode. They made it safe and sound - oh my, have the kids grown. My daughter-in-law stay to be with her Mom. Her Mother is not doing well, hope for the best, anticipate the worse and come out true medium at F 2 1/2. (Did you all get that - F 2 1/2 is a true medium pencil - teehee).

We attended our annual bake sale, enter the draws, and went for a drive lakeside.

What are the odds of this happening....I won the door prize for the adults - my granddaughter won the door prize for the kids. I was so happy for her - she was beaming. When we entered the hall to collect our prizes - everyone clapped for her - geez, the biggest smile on her face near brought a tear to my eye. So, honey we are the Big Door Prize (In Spite Of Ourselves - John Prine)

We toted our winning baskets back home and noisemaker had to come out and carry them in. Geez, they were heavy. Kayla, my granddaughter - opened hers' up. Again, smiles abound! My living room is now toy territory mega. There were crayons, sidewalk chalk, coloring books, chips, socks (pink), everything an 11 year old child would love. After she looked at everything, then again, once more...she says to her brothers - I will share with you. Proceeded to make piles for her brothers, herself, and a third pile. I inquired - what is this pile for? She replies Gramma, we share. I cannot use this pile; I will take it to school - give it for other kids. We hugged, hi 5ed.

I was so happy for her. Many times we have hugged and hi5ed - since bringing our winning baskets home.

And that, my friends - it priceless. It is called Family.

Ouch - This Sucks

Just received word my stepson and family will not be coming to visit today. Our daughter-in-laws' Mom suffered a stroke so they had to return home. This is the third stroke in less than three months.

It is important now they be with the other side of the family.

My Baking For The Annual Community Bake Sale

Every May long weekend, our community has a bake sale; it is to be held this Sunday.

I made patches of chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies, and chocolate chunk cookies. I did breakfast loaves of Honey Pecan and Banana Chocolate Chip.

This sale is a big event here and the funds generated by it go mainly to the fire department. Funds also go to families in need - it is a good thing all the way around.

My company arrives late this evening, oh my, a busy, busy weekend I am going to have. It will be fun especially to have the grandkids around and visit with the stepson and daughter-in-law. I get along well with them. I have taught them to Prine; they enjoy Mr. Prine. Wait til they see my new autograph, holy smucksville!

I Won A Prize!

oh Happy Day! Recently I purchased some groceries at our local Safeway. You received a ticket you popped opened to see if you are a winner. In small print at the bottom of the ticket it says...play again. I did, I went on line and placed my numbers. Today, I received a telephone call from Safeway telling me I won a prize. A ladies Buluva watch valued at $275.00 - smucksville, I could not believe it. So exciting - I do not own a watch. The watch will be delivered to the Safeway in the village, in about 4 to 6 weeks; we go to pick it up. At that time, they will ask me a math question - geez, I hope it is not something like 86 x 24 - 32 +5. I'll be in trouble. So exciting and to think time was once just a clock to me!

Funny, how I can post anything and turn it into Prine!

My Grandkids Are Coming To Visit!

oh Happy Days. My grandkids are coming to visit this weekend (it is a long weekend in Canada). Such fun we will have. The oldest (16) grandson will not be coming as he has some girlfriend commitment and that is what should be. The other two Jaden (13) and Kayla (11) well we will have a marathon of the Go Fish game, play the coin game, and maybe if the weather holds an outdoor game of Survivor. When we play the Go Fish game, they invent rules just as we do when we play Survivor.

Our community is also having the annual bake sale this Sunday, it is a big event here. It will be the first time I get to take the grandkids to it. There is a free raffle for the kids; if you win it is a huge basket full of toys and goodies. I hope one of my grandkids wins - that would be so special. There is also a raffle for adults - another big basket full of food - canned goods, cake mixes - the first year we were here on the mountain side, I won it! It is valued near $150.00.

I have special treats for the grandkids too. Treats they do not get at home - fruits twists, fruit rolls up, homemade cookies and of course, always I have, Bean Casserole. Saturday, a big 12 lb. ham I am cooking along with mushroom potatoes.

So tomorrow I will be kitchen bound. Baking up a storm for the bake sale; I have the banana chocolate chip loaves already done. I will be doing chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies, and four of the honey pecan loaves.

Lordy, if On Stage & In Person arrives tomorrow/Friday I will have to use the mobile cd thing and tuck it on in my apron. It'll be love, I love aprons and I love John Prine! Yippee!

Ouch, Ouch, and More Ouch!

Yikers, I took some nasty, nasty bug bites yesterday. Two to the left eye, one on each wrist. The eye lid is swollen big time, the biter just above leaks like a faucet, poisoning oozing.

My wrists were never on the side of good to begin with; you should see them now. Swollen like they have golf balls visiting.

My fine neighbor, Chris was to visit and said to the Noisemaker - she better see a doctor. My take, no need. The doctor will give me a prescription, make me sick to my stomach, I would druther have names thrown at me than to give funds to something that will make me puke.

Tomorrow will be a better day, I am certain of it. I will be able to see a bit more. I will be able to read the newspaper account of John Prine in Maywood. It was a very nice write up the local paper gave him.

oh alas, to boot to see John Prine in Maywood in May!

Virginia Prine Glow

The Virginia hills will never be the same; there is a Prine glow thanks to Chad. Geez, I got the glow way up here on the mountain side.

The mountain side is busy today, summer is just around the corner - the biker activity has increased considerably. I am going to stop one of those 'boys' one day. I will tell them there is no need to speed on through this section; you go slow - so some near 55 year old, can catch you. eh, buddy can you give me a ride. I think his name is Outlaw Pete.

John Prine

It is a Sparkle!

Puts me right into Paradise Wavin', Prine Flutterin'.

John Prine - Richmond, Virginia

Thank you so much, Chad. It was my greatest wish you would meet John Prine, get the autograph.

Wishes do come true, even John Prine wishes!

I am so happy for you. May your memory of the moments you had with John Prine, be always special, like you and our Johnny!

John Prine ~ Richmond, Virginia

Oh Chad, this is wow prinesville material. I am glad you shared it with me.

John Prine ~ Richmond, Virginia

How exciting it was to received this photo from Chad. l/r, David Jacques, John Prine, Chad, Jason Wilber.

Photo - thank you, Chad - glad you made it safely to Richmond (Waltons Territory) and returned home in one piece. I'd kinda like to keep you around - you're the only virtual son I have!

Chad had sent me an email, just as he got situated/seated in the venue of the Carpenter Theatre, said it was a beautiful venue - was very excited.

I am in Prine Paradise Flutter, now - I must visit the porch. I am so happy for Chad, he deserved this trip. He deserved to spend time with his Mom/Dad, family. yep - he even got his nephew a new fishing rod. We were Prine emailing so the fishing stuff, well - although it is important, it will go on the fourth page news.

Thank you so much, Chad. I appreciate all more than you know.

The Waltons

A Family.

John Prine - Richmond, Virginia

If my time, is correct - Chad should be somewhat calmly in his seat, awaiting John Prine.

By this time, he has scouted out the exits/entrances - he's Prinein'. Sharpies, albums, photos abound.

Richmond, Virginia - well, to me, that is Waltons' Territory - I love the Waltons. Every Sunday night much of my family would sit and watch the Waltons!

Raisin Cookies

In honor of my Mom and her favorite cookie, I post - Jumbo Raisin Cookies. The recipe makes 5 dozen and yep, when I make them, I eat them all. Noisemaker does not fancy them.

Jumbo Raisin Cookies

2 cups Raisins
2 cups White Sugar
1 cup Shortening
3 Eggs
1 tsp. Vanilla
4 cups Flour
1 tsp. -each- Baking Powder, Baking Soda
2 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1/4 tsp. - each- Nutmeg, Allspice

Boil 2 cups raisins with 1 cup water for 5 minutes. Set aside to cool.

Cream together sugar, shortening, eggs (well beaten) and vanilla. Add cooled raisins, juice and all, to creamed mixture. Sift together the remaining ingredients; add to raisin mixture along with chopped nuts (if desired).

Drop onto baking sheet by teaspoonfuls and bake 12 - 15 minutes in a 375 degree oven.

Makes 5 dozen.
Freezes - excellent.

Jason Wilber

Geez, finally I have something to post about Jason Wilber.

I dreamed of him last night, we were in the money. There were hundred dollars bills, twenty dollars bills, bills everywhere. It was fun, we were laughing, casual and relaxed, like we hit lotto!

Photo - Vancouver, B.C. 2009.10.16
Jason Wilber, the short one in the middle is yours truly, and David Jacques. Thank you, Charlene.

Photo taken just hours before the concert of John Prine.

Lydia

Oh my Lydia, she is so happy!

Notice her P for Prine suncatchers,
she loves how they swing in the wind.

Dig them red lips, she is smilin' big time, thinking about Donald. She is ready for Donald, she is all beautified up and dazzling to say the least.

John Prine/Chad - Richmond - Carpenter Theatre

Here is where Chad will be soon to see John Prine - ah, just makes you all in a flutter. I hope he takes his sharpie, scouts out the doorway activity, and finally can get the John Prine autograph. Geez, maybe even hear, Killin' The Blues.
Carpenter Theatre is located in Richmond, VA.
Richmond, Virginia - well, that is Waltons Mountain land. I love the Waltons. teehee, Chad is a bit young for knowing of the Waltons, but I know his Mom does.
ah heck, they'll probably chit chat about the Waltons on the way to Richmond.
Happy Mothers' Day, Chad's Mom - you have a very special son.

The Saga Of Lydia

Lydia spent the night in an upright position, she was not leaning - firm she was. I decided early this morning she needs a new belt and new lips. Oh my word, she is so happy now, elated she is!

I cannot believe how attached we have become to Lydia. I always was, but now noisemaker is peeking at her. She has attracking beauty qualities - she is Miss Wisconsin beauty material.

I went to take a photo of her, but those darn everreadys' were not ever ready for me. Another day, tomorrows' forecast in sunshine - Lydia does well in sunshine - it is her Prine Time!

Oh Boy Records - I Have A John Prine Angel

About two weeks ago, I received a telephone call from Jon at OhBoyRecords. I thought it to be rather odd as I had not ordered anything from OhBoy. However, I was in the middle eating a big huge piece of chocolate cake and let me tell you chocolate cake and John Prine/OhBoy, well they are on the same level.
Now while talking with Jon, he tells me the t-shirt 'I' have ordered will be delayed due to production problems. I did not order a t-shirt, I did not tell him that - I was more interested in my chocolate cake. I, later had to call OhBoy to set in my order for John Prine - In Person and On Stage. I inquired about ...are there orders pending...sure thing - there was one order pending. A name was given, but - geez, I forgot it now.
Today, in the mail I received an I *Heart* Johnny t-shirt. It is like christmas here ~ oh my word, good grief, smucksville all wrapped up. The t-shirt fits to a 'T'. All is smucksville material.
My John Prine Angel - thank you.

Lydia

Oh my word, Lydia suffered a very hard day yesterday - she hit snow, sleet, rain, and dirt. The wind was strong here, Lydia was leaning - yep, there on her left leg - she was angle-ing. I decided I best pick her up and lean her up in a safe place. I picked a spot between the woodshed and the garden shed. My word, the space is one foot between the sheds, I thought she would be safe from the elements.

I do not know when she fell flat on her face and once again, her head rolled down the hill. What I do know, is when I went to visit the porch I looked over and there she was with no head, dirty, and very sad.

ah then in a blink of an eye - who shows up - yep, my fine neighbor - Chris. He is in Wackoville - he visits that place everyday. I am giggling at the site of Lydia, Chris wants to know what is so funny. I replied (and pointed) look at Lydia. We both laughed big time. Chris says, everytime I come over and you are dealing with Lydia and again, she has no 'fn' head. We laughed somemore.

I packed up Lydia and her body parts, placed her woodshed. I went to see her this morning, oh my - she was cold, frozen, with no head.

I repaired her. She has a formed head now, secured with twist ties, a new hat, new lips - a necklace, man she's sparklin'. I shimmed her up and we'll see if she can withstand the winds of the north today.

Geez, I am hopin'. She's becoming a real part of the family - heck even noisemaker commented on her.

If Donald came to visit last night - Lydia was out - out like a light, she saw stars in her fall.

She is in prine form for tonight, Donald - come forth - she's waitin'.

Birthday Greetings

Oh mercy, time has gotten away on me and I missed an important birthday - Chuck. Belated Birthday Greetings, hope your day was sunshine and Prine filled.

Reeda, Happy Birthday - 8th of May.
