Gary Fjellgaard ~ John Prine

I cannot figure what is happening with the radio this week. A few hours ago I heard another John Prine song - Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness sung by Gary Fjellgaard. Gary is a true canadian gentleman. My Mom really enjoyed his music/talents.

John Prine - The Ryman - Nashville 2010.03.26

Oh, what an exciting this will be! If there is one venue, the best to see John Prine, to me it would be The Ryman.

Most exciting, three people I know will be in attendance. Noticketdonna, CC, and Rumbleshorts. It warms my heart when I read their posts on www.jpshrine.org/ ~such fun they are going to have. I would love to meet up with them however, I do not think being down one wing and all will find me peace in flying off the mountain. I am not quite dove material. However, on March 26th, I shall be wearing my large Crushfest hoodie [cc says I swim in that - I took it to John Prine ~ Vancouver]. I will spend the evening listening to some John Prine and if luck is with me, perhaps go to bow my head and hear a John Prine song on the radio. I Y that!

Good News - Not

I was to see the doctor yesterday to review/update the situation with my wrists. ah, pukesville - the news was not good. Seems like I will have to have more surgery done on the left wrist. The added medical attachments will have to be removed after the healing process is complete. It is all too much on my mind and I did not quite follow. I told the doctor ok - you put all this metal in me; I return to life - I am not bionic, I am not sporting a chest of Dolly Parton and then you tell me - it will have to all be redone. If that be the case, next time I want bionicnetta [a word of my invention], I want a complete redo.

I have to spend four more weeks in a cast on left and try my best with right. God, it hurts. The doctor who performed the surgery is to call me on Wednesday; another update/review.

Oh alas, I must redirect. I must focus on happy thoughts and well wishes.

A John Prine Moment

geez, i cannot believe it - miracles do happen. last night, after a very trying day, i decided 2 hit the hay. it takes me 10/15 minutes 2 get everything organized - the pillows stacked up and of course, the radio - all positioned correctly. i lay myself down and turn the radio on, i do not dial far and i do not have a clue where i am on the dial but low and behold - i hear notes. holy smucksville - it is john prine. it is fading but eh, i got it - the last verse of It's A Big Old Goofy World! Good lord, that is the first time ever i had heard a john prine song on the radio. i was so excited, i was all in a flutter. it was a very special john prine moment. *paradise wave*

I have the medical arrangements worked out for tomorrow. yikers, they tell me if my plate and screws are not sitting correctly at the dinner table in my arm; well, it will all have 2 be redone. i so hope they are sitting still and being polite lil medical attachments.

Bruised Elbow

geez, when i view the photo - i have no words to type -

No Bruised Oranges

geez, i'm getting old - storm windows - john prine

Where Do I Begin. . .

...where do i begin to tell the story...
[theme from love story]

some of you reading this will know a member of my prine flock is no longer with us; but is in spirit.

tom reynolds passed away. when i get the right photo i am going to post my time with tom reynolds. my tribute - tsk tsk not our time in jail.

as the news of tom's passing was processing, my telephone rang - a second later - a knock at the door. noisemaker got the door, i got the telephone.

on the telephone was another one of the prine flock - skunkeyejan. we cried. at the door was a lady from the auxiliary. i explained to sej, i must go - we will talk later. i recoup, regain and go to greet my visitor. she has in hand what you see in the photo - one pink rose in a lil bird vase.

i think of one red rose - john prine. i think how thoughtful this is of the auxiliary to bring me one pink rose. i think how special life is, i hold back my tears.

this morning i telephoned the lady that brought the flower arrangement, i explain - my prine friend just passed away - i was speaking with another prine friend on the telephone. she replies to me - well, i do not know prine - what is that? I explain about john prine. she relays condolences - she too, knew - the moon is down.

Geez, it is H3LL

I, for years have suffered from cts in my right wrist. I worked my right hand far too much today, it has swelled up now and some sort of lump is forming. noisemaker is going to wrap it up for me. I am going to rest. I was able to shower today, wash my hair, and we went to the general store. I did too much and now i will pay. good news is i did move all 5 fingers on left. Bruises on right - good lord - horrid they are. Bruises on left - I do not want to see - over the elbow I can - it is black, blue with a fashionable style of yellow parading on through.

Kate was a superior song writer; covers were done by several including Emmy Lou Harris and Linda Ronstadt (Heart Like A Wheel).
Condolences to her former husband, Loudon Wainwright - their children; Rufus and Martha Wainwright and families.

Plate and Screws

No clocks and spoons here - only an image of a plate and screws. Not that this is my wrist but it does give a very good representation of setting the table in a wrist.

Removed the bandages yesterday from right arm - holy smucksville - the arm looks like I have been stomped on by the family of cows.

Big Ouch

Smucksville - I went out walking Friday morning and danced with the ice; I fell hard and broke/shattered my left wrist (yep, you betcha - I am left handed). Off to emergency and then a three hour drive to the city hospital. Had surgery on Saturday morning and arrived home Saturday night.

Geez, just prior to surgery I had to put one of those lovely blue hospital gowns. The nurse and I were struggling to remove my shirt because the cast was put on at the first emergency stop....she says to me 'maybe we will have to cut it off', I replied, are you crazy, this is my Prine shirt, I can't cut it off. Noisemaker laughed. We finally made it. Wrist shattered but prine shirt intact.

I can't type so well with one hand. I'll be carrying my new wrist cast friend around for two to four weeks. The steel plate and pins will be in my wrist my lifetime. Yikers!

Birds Of A Feather

The day before yesterday I was outside, sitting having a cigarette and my lil bird friend came a fluttering on in, the chickadee. It fluttered and tweeted and then it came and sat on my shoulder; just for a few seconds. It was a moment.

The next day when I was returning from my walk, there was a flock of chickadees up at the roadway. I stopped and tweeted with them, proceeded down the path towards our humble home.

One of the chickadees decided it should come with me. So it jumped on my head (yep, I was wearing my hood) and travelled with me. I could feel it walking on my head. I guess I went about seven steps or so and it flew down to the feeder. When I arrived at the feeder I sat and tweeted again with my new friend.

...those birds of a feather, they're gatherin' together and feeling exactly like you... - John Prine.

Facebook

I am (giggle, giggle) trying to learn Facebook. I trust Facebook is like a mini mini blog - lil bit of moments that people feel they should post and they gather up a flock that feels they need to read. Too funny, I joined - waiting for my flock to flock on in!

Them birds of a feather never knew they would be gatherin' together this way.

My Cow Family

There has been a lot of chatter about cows recently and I remembered a nice christmas card I received from k47 back in December 2005. 2005 we had just moved to the mountain side and I was not quite acquainted with the cow system as I am today.

Geez, I tell ya - if all the cows I see looked like the one on the christmas card, I'd be the happiest cow chaser in North America!

This is the front of the christmas card. The photo does not give credit as it should (it is the photographer). There are sparkles and udders - it truly looks like a happy cow skipping over the lake.

This is the inside of the card. It has to be a female cow as the mouth opens wide and below the eyes are dangling christmas lights! k47 has a very good imagination.

No offensive to k47 but the first cow I see in May, I shall name it k47 and by no means will it look as attractive as the cow in the picture.

I hope you all had a mooey christmas and a very happy moo year.

Thanks k47.

John Prine Family

I cannot believe I did not post this photo last October, but I cannot find it. I am posting/or reposting today. I found it in my picture file and checked here; but I cannot find the photo.

If you look closely you will see my ticket when I went to see John Prine in Vancouver. Next to that is a magnet...I don't need a radio...I've got a John Prine song playing my head all the time!!! (from Crusher). Next is the John Prine black and white label (also from Crusher), and then a christmas card from k47 complete with a John Prine black and white scent cut out from Florida John. The John Prine cd's in the background complete the photograph Y

Yesterday, Noisemaker and I took a road trip (near a two hour drive) up to shop at the Walmart. I am not one to shop but Noisemaker is. Geez, he can go down every aisle, look and gaze at every product except for feminine hygienic products. It near drives me to drink. However, we plod along and we purchase lots of goodies that we cannot buy at our local vendor. There were good sales at Walmart and I was able to utilize quite a few of my coupons. I like that.

Something else, I truly love is parcels. I receive mega parcels; mostly from my Prine friends. The past two weeks my local post office has been overwhelmed with my parcels. We stopped yesterday to pick them up and the clerk says to me...there is no one like you - you receive so many parcels. I replied, and I love every one of them! And, I do. Smucksville, it is dilly delight.

To mention some of the items I receive - well, first off - I could never get them on the mountain side. Stacking trays, lotions, a John Prine Pen, a blue and white touque, cds, magazines, crossword puzzle books, lots of nice things - lots of Prine treasures. Truly, it is dilly delight. When I get the parcels, be it in the mailbox or in person - well, sometimes I just have to yell on out. Yay and Yippeelicious!

I received the cd The List - Rosanne Cash. Lordy, I am such an odd ding - I have it in my head - singing This List, This List (from the song sung by Faith Hill - This Kiss, This Kiss). I sing:
This List
This List
Rosanne
It's incredible

It is an incredible life I lead. So much has changed over the near five years I have been on the mountain side. Some good and some well, you have to learn from ~ and learn I do.

EcoFan

The mountain side has gone high green tech!

Here is the EcoFan - it is a smucksville dilly. It runs on the heat generated by the woodstove and circulates the air.

Marty Stuart

I am quite stuck today on Marty Stuart - it was all that yappin' on the shrine.

http://www.jpshrine.org/

I could be quite star struck by the pure good looking status of Travis Tritt and Marty Stuart. Smucksville!

Some years ago, I burned a cd with Marty Stuart singing Tempted. I had a review whereby Bruce Springsteen states something like best dancin' song I have heard in a long time. No question - Tempted - is a dancin' song.

I rightly or lefty do not know Travis Tritt. I know Tempted, yep - I listening to it right now as I type. I have this vision of a dance hall, ...it is so hard to resist the temptation to bust loooooose and dance.

However, I have much going on at the moment. Noisemaker is wondering I have not posted the picture of the ecofan to my brother.

Tempted is blasting in my ears and soon, I know we will go to KISS - there is one song I love by them...loving you baby or something like that. It is a great dance tune. On the same cd I have David Allen Coe. Yep - I can get from John Prine to David Allen Coe, Kiss, and land up with Tempted.

Pure Amazement!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Cheers for 2010 - please do not visit the province of British Columbia as Vancouver is host to the 2010 Olympics. It is only my opinion, but I do not believe it will be a secure place to be visiting in 2010.

When I was in Vancouver for John Prine, I struck up a conversation with a teacher - a teacher to that of homeleeleelala security. He said to me, stay at home. I will heed.

May you all have resolutions you can keep and may the gates of our friendship never swing to that of rust.

I have made only one resolution and it is not up to me to keep. I hope for eight (8) followers. teehee!

Best New Years' Wishes, Everyone
