My Garden of Wild

Oh my, ya gotta love it!

The campfire seat that you see in the middle of the picture is where I sit and sing to the animals.  Mostly songs of John Prine, but depending on the mood of the moment could be Bruce Springsteen, Hank Williams, Neil Young - even some Supremes - ah, the list is endless.

ah, Lydia

Here is a photo of Darling Lydia, her job is to oversee the garden.  She does very well with her duties, I would strongly give her a recommendation for any work she so desires.  Lydia, currently is longing for Donald.

Quite a wild looking lil bit of a flower garden I have.  I enjoy it, I do not enjoy the worms, good grief.

Before I was able to place my Prine/flower whirlees outside, a deer came and ate up my taragon, columbine, tulips, and daffodils.  I think it was Spring.

This morning at 5 a.m. there were eight deer in the front yard, a site to behold.  I should have been awake enough to take a photo, but I was not.  They were so close I could have whispered in their ears, exactly-ohtoe-deer-a-mo-to...

What A Deal!

My lunatic neighbor, Chris was in need of water today.  I sparked him up a deal.  I will give you water if you give me all the pots that you have.  Deal done.  Empty pots they are.  I will be able to grow vegetables - tomatoes, carrots, onions.

Neighbor Chris had these pots because he wanted to get into to illegal activity.  It failed.  When one does not have water, a well, ~ well you know the rest.

I have ten pots - must relay to Noisemaker, I need dirt.  I do not do worms.

Oh my, Neil

Holy Youngsville - Neil has a revamped website, it is excellent.
See more at: www.neilyoung.com
You have to travel 100 miles to the General Store, in a vehicle - complete with rear view mirrors. There is muck on the windshield, rain fallin', ~ It took me near years to get down that road (dial up). He has cedars, we have pine and spruce trees.
When you arrive at the General Store - it is near Paradise. I feel that when I go to the village/city.
A General Store has not changed in many a year. The Waltons had Ike's place . We have Interlakes. The General Store - a place to meet up - maybe even hear some Prine!
Thank you to:

The Way I Write/The 'Ville'

As many of you know, I am well acquainted with Ville. Smucksville, Doville ~ I can easily make any word into a ville. Ville started when my grandchildren started to learn language. I did not want to curse in front of them. The birth of Holy Smucksville. Share the 'Ville'.

There are lots of Villes in the USA. I mean towns/cities. Today, I received a letter from Fogelsville, PA - USA. I had to laugh - it is a ville thing - only acquainted with the writer.

The way I write, I post ~ is exactly the way I speak. I fumble around with words and spelling, just like I did in grade one.

I remember, in grade one I sang solo at the christmas concert - Away In A Manger. I stood there on stage - I saw my Mom and Dad - my Dad wave to me. I took a second - I waved back - proceeded to sing.

Now, years later, I am still singing. I am one lucky lady - I Prine.

14

Well, look at that I have 14 followers. Actually, it is 13 but I do not have the heart to delete Tom. Tom died, but he is still with me - hence - non delete - he Prines' forever.

I know some of you, I email with several of you. Some of you, I have no clue - and wonder how did you find me? Were you searching for Paradise, John Prine?

It really does not matter, I am glad you are here.

For new folks, I reside in the higher elevation - a mountain top - in rural British Columbia, a small community. I miss the city very much, however, I do and always have loved nature. I love the animals - well, with the exception of worms. I do not do worms.

As my profile says, I lead a very simple, rural life. I am very thankful for the internet, it keeps me in contact with the world to which I live in. Even though it is dial up, it is all I have. I have great on-line friends, I never dreamed I would - they are all very special to me ~ many of them are Priners/Prinettes - they are hugville material.

I am very to have them. Thank you to all.

Late Night ~ Just Thinkin'

I never stay up this late, generally I am in bed at around 9/9:30 p.m. Tonight, I sit thinking how precious life is. One minute you are here on earth, the next moment you could be gone. (Side note, I have Bruce Springsteen on - Gypsy Biker).

My friend, that was killed in the fire - his service will be on Saturday. No church service, a regular funeral hall service. After the service they will all flock down to the Legion for a luncheon, to remember Ron.

I spoke with Ron's wife - she is a good friend of mine, we all have been friends for over 40 years. I explained I cannot attend the service, I will have my service for Ron, right here. I do not live in the same city and would have to bus up. I also have obligation to my community this coming weekend. All was understood.

Not focusing well, here - Bruce in my ear - that Gypsy Biker always reminds me of Tom Reynolds.

On a lighter note, we went to the village today. On the way home, we stopped at the beer parlor and we had a beer and wings. We never do that - it was fun. The wings were so good, truly enjoyed them. We droved home and down our road, Noisemaker pointed out to where he walks each day, I looked over and holy smucksville a big huge black bear is standing there, about ten feet away from the van. We will have to be very careful when we walk outside.

The creek has now turned into a river - it is roaring. Our home is located quite aways up from the creek, no worry of flooding. Only worry we have is erosion. Creekside, we have spruce trees, well over 100 feet tall - I hate to see them topple, but they might. Each summer, we clean the creek up, take out fallen trees, plastic bags, beer/pop cans (thank you - you dense {curse words} tourist/seasonal folks).

Oh my, Bruce is entertaining...
"to the dead it don't matter much
'bout who's wrong or right
you asked me that question
I didn't get it right
You slipped into your darkness
Now all that remains
Is my love for you brother
Lying still and unchanged
To them that threw you away
You ain't nothin' but gone
Our Gypsy biker's comin' home"

Testing

With reference to the up and down post - now I have arrows - up and down - on labels. God help me, I simply want to express words, I need not arrows. Now to try to find out what I did wrong and how to correct it. Geez, feels like a marriage ;)

We had a solid 1/2" of snow the day before yesterday, I was depressed about that. It is past the middle of May, come on God Of Snow - show us some sunshine.

Some - or perhaps just one - deer came to visit and ate up all my spring flowers - daffodils, tulips, tarragon, columbine - wiped out. Alas, but not to worry I can plant more. I still have a home. For folks that have been flooded out or wiped out by fire; I feel for them.

Last but my no means least, it is Wednesday - Lotto Night - I pray to that John Prine God of Lotto, the John Prine Lotto Goddess, eh Pick Our Numbers - is it not a hard thing to do - you don't even need a toque - spring has arrived - could you please get with the program! ;)

Had To Change The Title

Early this morning I received word that a good friend of mine died in a fire on Wednesday. I do not have any details, not sure I want to know - I know the trailer exploded. The fire reignited two times. The fireman were able to get one body out but could not get the other body out until the next morning. It is sad. Ron has three children, two boys and one girl (ages 20 - 25), he and his wife, Cathy were separated. I had know Ron for about 40 years. He was kind and thoughtful towards me. Until we meet again, Ron - thank you for being my friend.

On a lighter note, Lydia is having problems. I do not know if Donald was scouting the area or what but Lydia became a tilt. She near fell over, her jeans are all ripped up. I went out to repair her and oh my god. I lifted up her pant leg to shim up the pole; I had to remove a few rocks to get some room for my shims. Good lord, there was a million worms down there. I threw down everything and ran. I cannot take worms. Yikers.

I went about an hour later and fixed her up. The worms had departed from that area. So Lydia is shimmed up and waiting Donald.

The doe that has been coming around to visit stayed awhile yesterday. She has got much character about her. I'm thinking of calling her Julie after Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music. Everytime I see deer, I think of that song - doe, a deer, a female deer; ray - a drop of golden sun...lalalala. Yesterday Julie was out back, grazing, and then she rested a bit. She rose from her rest and had a pee - good lord, I thought that doe was making us another creek! Holy peesville! Julie then came to the other side of the house, kitchen side. She came right up to the window and looked at Noisemaker, sort of nodded as if to say Hello In There. Julie continue grazing and came upon the bird feeder. My word, that deer stuck her head right in the feeder and started licking up bird seed. Ode to life with the animals on the mountain side.

Thursday, May 12, 2011

As mentioned, previously we have a female deer coming to visit us. I believe she has taken a liking to us, she seems to feel very much at home. I must give her a name. Yesterday, she was here near all day, grazing. I have never seen in my life a deer, pee. Good lord, I thought she was making another creek, pee just kept on coming - after that she rested.

About twenty minutes of rest, she started to graze again. She came near to the house, about two feet from the kitchen window. In the pines located about five feet from the kitchen window we have a bird feeder. The feeder is about six feet or so up from the ground. This crazy deer goes to the feeder sticks her head in there and starts licking up the bird seed.

Noisemaker goes to the kitchen window and the deer comes right to the window, looks at Noisemaker as if to say - Hello In There. I, then, came to the window and started to lip flap with the deer. She knows my voice well, I sing much Prine to her. She enjoys it. Ode to life on the mountain side.

Oh yes, I near forgot - I was out on the porch this morning (Noisemaker had gone for his daily walk, I visited the porch for a peaceful cigarette) ~ all was calm. A memory hit my brain, oh my. I sat there and giggled and giggled, and then giggled some more. The memory was that of Animals, Animals Out. I do not know if any of you folks played this recess game in elementary school, I played it all the time. For those who do not know of it, there are 8 squares - each square is a category, first square - animals; second square - colors; I think the third square was names...and it continues. To start the game you double leap on Animals and say Animals, Animals - ...continue to square two and say an animal name, i.e. dog, dog - then, move to second square with a new animal name. You continue around the squares and hopefully you can think of animal names. When completed you move to Colors and continue on.

I hope you have the picture in your mind and perhaps you have even enjoyed the pleasures of elementary game activity.

When Noisemaker came home from his walk, I said to him I had this great recollection when you were gone of a game I played in elementary school. Oh my, his eyes rolled, he shook his head, and said Bev, now what would that be? I leaped up and said, I will show you - and started to do Animals, Animals, out. He went in the house. I sat outside and giggle just like I am giggling right now.

The best things in life today, Animals, Laughter, John Prine and just a hint of the Noisemaker.

Lip Flappin' ~ Toe Tappin' ~ John Prinein'

Oh my lips are working overtime! Two sets of seasonal neighbors arrived yesterday. I baked some real lemon cupcakes for them and of course, took some to my permanent neighbor, Gary - who lives just down the road. Everyone appreciated them - they were very good.

With visiting my seasonal neighbors and having a few beers, the topic of music came up. hmmm, they do not Prine. However, they said they would do the John Prine google search. Oh my, I told them, you'll see lots of information on John Prine. The best website is http://www.jpshrine.org/

Yep, Reeda - I peddle whenever I can, I love to do it and I don't even own a bike! Imagine if I did own a two wheeler, I would be peddling John Prine -singing my Prine songs and praying I would not hit a rock!

This morning we had a female deer, a doe - arrive. She was here for near six hours - just grazing. She ate so much, she bedded down and rested, she curled right up and closed her eyes. I had never seen that before. It was beautiful, everyone - everything was at peace.

Tomorrow is Mothers' Day, Happy Mothers' Day to everyone! I miss my Mom, geez, I miss her so much. She Prined!

Jack Layton

Jack Layton - Leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP) - newly elected party of the opposition.

History was in the making as I viewed the computer screen last night. First time in the history of Canada, the NDP is the opposition. I was watching the television briefly, but realized within two minutes there would be no results from the west. The election was voted on in provinces far, far from me - the east.

Does not much matter, I am happy for Jack Layton. The NDP took the broom to the ice and swept across the Province of Quebec. The Bloc leader, that French man with flair has step aside now as has the Liberal leader - The Ig. The Ig, in my opinion, he should have never vacated his home in the USA.

The NDP, as an opposition party does have much work ahead of them. I truly do not understand how some of these NDP folks got elected. History was made again, having the youngest candidate actually elected - he is 19 years old and naturally, voted for himself (resides in Quebec).

Strange as that is; the NDP also has four students, elected from McGill University - ready and waiting to form up the NDP caucus. I believe new elected members make near $156,000 per year! Smucksville!

Even more strange with the NDP win is they had this bar hop young lady running who was vacationing in Las Vegas and could not attend any town hall meetings, no press meetings - but yet she was elected with a margin mega greater than my bra size. :)

What hit Canada last night was the Orange Crush, the political wave of the New Democratic Party. Orange, the color for the NDP.

Tommy Douglas was instrumental in forming the CCF/NDP. Too funny, my Dad and Mom always told me - Bev - you were conceive NDP!

For Jack Layton and his young caucas - you all shine. Well Done.

I am very proud to have always voted and worked with you, never against you.

Shine On, Jack ~ Shine On.
