Wrists Update

Geez, the morning I decided to walk and did not realized the factor of ice - my dear left wrist shattered, that was over two months ago. Here I am today still in much of a struggle. I talked with the doctor of pin/wrist building yesterday. He says, my bones are in excellent condition - they are like they should be. In his words, an excellent recovery you have made - keep doing your exercises, build your strength. I thanked him, I am very thankful.

My left wrist/my fingers can function - not well - but we make progress everyday. Small things, like baby steps - each day I try something new. Today, I gave a handshake to the doctor (with left). I had said, next time I visit with you - I will shake your hand, I did.

It is Easter time and once again, the mashed potatoe factor comes into play. Oh, how I can taste them, with real butter. I plan this week to peel potatoes, that is my goal - using left and right - no vice needed.

The right wrist, well it has now gone dirt side. It slipped some weeks ago, I have been doing far too much right sided. I sort of erupted a tendon and soon it will need to rest ~ when the left regains.

My right wrist/arm - has always been my strongest. teehee, The left is always trying to fight it. Most of the time I give them 50/50. I can turn a screw, pound a nail, whip an omelet with both. I play guitar, throw a ball, and bowl - right. It is a brain thing. I write/print left handed. I can write backwards with the left hand, (not now, of course). When I had severe dental problems, the freezing would not take on the right side - the problem laid on the left.

This post will not make any sense to folks that lean left or right - you know you are left handed or right handed. My brain knows both; it knows when one hand fails the other can pick the slack up. That is what my brain knows.

Now, if I ever get to that parking lot at ohboyrecords, I am going to request Billy Prine be there. With that tall one, I could lean on my left leg or right leg - no one would see. Who would even care if one had two feet, wrote left or right, sang in the middle of the night, - and shout out yep - I Prine! No one but me and Billy Prine.

Billy Prine

Nashville, but not in the parking lot.

This Billy really gets around. I think I would like to add him to the bucket list....

Communication

Geez, I opt to believe communication is getting stronger - we have the internet. I opt not to believe this factor when it comes to doctors. I have received two telephone calls from the dr wrist surgeon (2 1/2 hour drive from my residence), wondering what has happened to me. He relays to me he has received no reports. Lord, he is worried and concerned about me, I am thankful, he cares.

I call up to the village dr and ask - as what dr wrist told me to do - get an xray, have them send it to him. I visit the dr of the village today, explain what I need - oh alas can my needs be filled...not to be.

I do get the requistion to have an xray done. I follow up on that. I have no signed, sealed, delivered, I'm Yours guarantee dr wrist will receive. I'll flip a coin in a couple of days, maybe call him up on my own buck.

derailment...I am near falling off my perch. The village dr says I am fragile - yep - I answered, been that way all my life...I weigh 90 lbs - I am 5' tall (on a good day).

Now, I am off to the city for a bone density test. dr village has an ink-ling, I fell too close to the ground.

My take - them angel songs
Angel Flying To Close To The Ground - Willie Nelson
Angel From Montgomery - John Prine

The Peavey

The peavey is a tool used for logging, we have one. I have never used it, I can't even lift it. My fine neighbor, Chris comes to borrow the tool on a regular basis. He came the other day to borrow it, noisemaker said - it is in the woodshed, for him to get it and return on the side of pronto. I went about my lady bug chores, noisemaker returned to the tv set. Suddenly noisemaker leaps out off the couch and says what is all the yelling? Well, this I do not know of - but I wait - yep - there is yelling and it is not womens world curling yelling hurry, hard, hurry, hurry on tv. Noisemaker and I run to the door - outside we run only to fine our fine neighbor has got himself locked up in the woodshed. He was all gourd up and could not find the unlocking rope. We bring him back to daylight and he replies to us - why thank you, it is dark in there, I could have been there until Christmas - with no food. I departed - my stomach, my lips are about to burst forth with laughter.
Four hours later, I said to the noisemaker - no sign of the peavey - ya best go get it. The peavey retails for near $200. Noisemaker walks over - there is our fine peavey laying still in the rain - not even a saddle. He brought it back to the shed. Noisemaker will be making big time noise with this issue of Chris and the peavey.

The Mountain

Reba sings it - but I am going to take it.

Deric Ruttan/Trace Adkins

I am pop country at the moment of current. Blue sky photo - Deric Ruttan. He sings the song `When You Come Around` - love the lyrics.

White background photo is Trace Adkins, a tradesman - plumber. He sings that song One Hot Mama - us older gals - yep - Trace - (flutter/shutter) hahaha

OhBoy Records

This morning I was google searching images trying to find something to promote John Prine in Nashville on March 26th. I typed in OhBoy Records Nashville and came upon two females in the reserved space of the OhBoy Parking Lot. It is a fine, fine photo - I am not quite certain whom these young prinettes are? Anyone name them - geez, you might just win the big door prize! Seems like they are having a fine time in the parking lot but there isn't any dirt for them to lean on their left legs. I guess they opted for a lay down version.

M Is For Mashed Potatoes

I am becoming obsessed with food. When I become relieved from this nightmare of a wrist, I am going to have mashed potatoes with butter and cheesecake.

I am also always going to have in my deep freeze a batch of the frozen mashed potatoe recipe.

I am going to give thanks to the shampoo/conditioner companies that produce their product with a pump attachment. You'll never know how hard it is to squeeze out shampoo and conditioner without a pump - ah, let me tell ya the experience - you'll get the full blown up picture. You are bent down, water coming from the shower - your foot knocks over the shampoo - you struggle to open it - you have to place it away from the water spray - pray you balance. You put your foot on the shampoo and pray again. Oh, alas - you have enough to shampoo your hair. Enough has spilled over and now you are experiencing bubbles. Bubbles, I enjoy from time to time. I cannot realm on into having any bubbly spirits now. I still have to do the tresses with conditioner. Lord, help me.

and, for some reason I have 'up on cripple creek' by the band whirling around in my head - in the blink of an eye - I almost lost balanced - screamed for noisemaker. To the rescue, he enters. He is caught off balance by the display of a 90 pound - 54 year old woman - with mega bubbles.

The rescue mission is a success. I regroup, I focus, and prepare for battle - the battle of conditioner. I won the war!

John Prine - Memphis, TN - June 5th, 2010

On June 5th, 2010 John Prine will be doing a concert here in this fine building located in Memphis, TN. I hope all my prine friends that reside near Memphis get to attend. I know of one for sure, she resides in Memphis and probably been prinein' for as long as I. I am happy for her - she deserves it.

No Cast/No Pins ~ Happy Days

My cast was cut off the other day - what a relief. The pins were removed with vise grips - they did not want to leave me. Especially one pin; geez the doc really had to reef on it. When I went to view what was happening in the wrist area, I could not believe the size of these pins. Good grief and to boot they are made of titanium - I kept the lil gems as a memory of my day of dancing with the ice.

I do not have much movement yet, but in time I will. I start on wrist therapy in two weeks. It it very nice to be outside and try to open my fingers - I can feel the wind blowing through them. I also held a candy cane yesterday, a sweet treat - I love candy canes and I love having no cast and no pins.

Spring Is Just A Smile Away

Spring is just a smile away on the mountain side ~ the eagles, the geese, and the robins have arrived. All are a pleasure to see; it is a feeding frenzy outside. Outside, the grasses are showing through what little snow we have left. Good lord, even a harley went by today - I thought of Tom.

Spring, like Autumn - my favorite time of year. I do not shine well in the hot summer sun nor the cold of a bitter winter.

Spring is when I wedded up to the noisemaker. I remembered - noisemaker opted that line of forgetfulness. That hurts, it is sad - but it is life and life does go on.

Spring, I hope you find in your footstep. Get outside - get some fresh air - renew. Recycle - sure - go forth. No need to place John Prine on the program of recycle - he is prine fine where he is.

Springing into Nashville, John Prine will be on March 26th. I wonder if he purchased some new boots for spring? Word has it - yep! hahaha

...spring is just a smile away...~ Way Down ~ John Prine

In Prine Paradise Spirit

ah, Paradise. I have had several folks ask me why 'paradise' is included in my lil bit/slip of a blog. Paradise is here because I can relate to Paradise in various ways. Several people where I reside (with the noisemaker) call this Paradise. Several artists have songs titled Paradise - to note John Prine, Bruce Springsteen, The Supremes (minus Diana Ross); some just have Paradise in their lyrics like the Eagles.

Paradise - the song written by John Prine will always be my favorite John Prine song. I can relate to it. When I was a young girl, my family would travel west to a small town where my Dad's brother/family lived. I loved the time spent there.

Paradise - in Prine spirit - that is where I go to John Prine concerts - like the upcoming Nashville concert at the Ryman. The day of a special concert, I wear some John Prine, like a sweat shirt or now with the busted wing, the John Prine undershirt. It is not really an undershirt, it is a tank top.

When I busted my wing, I was wearing my John Prine Live sweatshirt - yep - them nurses were near going to cut it off at the elbow - smucksville - cease and desist order, I placed on them. I saved it.

To all - your Paradise is there; it is waiting for you. It wings on in when you least expect it. Open your arms up - you'll catch it, I know you will, I have faith.
