ah, Those Birds Of A Feather

Our feathered friend waiting for lunch.

In Flight.

Can you see it?  First glance at this photo and I thought why did I take a picture of the railing, ah - but then I noticed above the railing, right side - bird in flight.

The painters have arrived; but I do not want to disturb them.  I shall Prine after they are done for the day.  I have the Paradise Tour Hoodie on; Crusher's Lake Marie Fest June 10 - 12, 1999.  It is big on me but no matter, it is warm on another beautiful fall day on the mountain side.

I have been rather busy in the past few days, lip flappin' and baking.  Seems I can pass the hours by doing a very good job at both.

My brother and sister-in-law came to visit us today, we had a very nice visit - it was nice to see him.  They both are looking well (60 years of age), fit and trim, and ding-a-ling here forgot to take a photo.

I baked a lemon cake for them and I also took a big slice for my neighbor, Gary B.  Oh my, he is so delighted when I take baking for him.  He gets a big smile on his face and is ever so thankful; warms my heart.

Last week when we went into town, Noisemaker spotted a painter doing work at the local plumbing supply store.  Noisemaker was thinking and snagged on to that painter - asked if he could come out and give us an estimate on painting the sides of our home.  Noisemaker and I - we are short or vertically challenged and we do not do ladders.  The front and back we can do, but not the high parts, the sides.

Mark, the painter came to give us an estimate and it was reasonable.  Now we await for no rain to fall.  Tomorrow should be good according to the forecast.  My mission, I must Prine to the fellows.  They look like they possibly could Prine already but I must confirm.

I shall deck out in the John Prine Live sweatshirt (I wonder if they sell that model anymore) and do the Prine peddle.  I love the Prine peddle, I am good at it!

Come on everybody lets do the Prine Peddle :)

2012.09.26

This morning I was outside trying to take a photo of the tower they (I do not know who they is - but they do install towers) - could be for cell phones - my dream - high speed internet - who knows.

I could not find any information on the installation, why it was being installed, I only thought - well take a photo and send it on out to the seasonal neighbor.

Upon trying to take the photo, well - I did not have my magnifiers with me.  I hit some button - said to myself ...camera god - help me.  What do you think I hear....John Prine.

Oh my word, I am hearing hand clappin', toe tappin' - seeing my recorded video - whatever going up and down, hear my hands a clappin'.  Then, holy smucksville, I remember ~ it is John Prine, Vancouver.

I sat a spell, and hit that button five times.  I clapped along right with the folks there ~ only this time I am mountain side.  I got up and danced, I did the Paradise Wave, I laughed and giggled and as always Prined.

Biggest Rock Heart Ever!

I hit the mother lode today!  Yeppers, I was walking up the drive and saw about one inch of this rock.  I was fairly sure it was quartz.  I went into the house to get my pocket knife to test the rock, it is quartz.  The heart weighs approximately five pounds, it is huge.  I unearthed it, washed it, and now it is in my little garden.

My neighbor down the road from me, he is really into rocks.  He was over on Friday, we spent an hour lip flappin' about rocks.  I brought out all my rock hearts, he was amazed.  Many of the rocks I have cannot be polished because of the type of rock they are.  As I said to my neighbor - it does not matter each and everyone of these hearts, is a heart, I love them all.

If you stratch the rock with a knife and it does not leave a mark, the rock can be polished and according to my good neighbor, it will come out of the polisher a beautiful gem.  Quartz is a quality rock for polishing.  However, this big brut - well you would need a industrial strength rock polisher to polish it.

Note - I actually wanted to post this Sunday but we lost connection to our telephone lines.  Reconnected at 4:30 a.m. today, thank god.  My blood pressure goes into high mode when I cannot connect.

John Prine - Silhouette

John Prine - Silhouette

As mentioned in previous post, we were in town yesterday - Noisemaker had a doctors' appointment.  He attended and was sent to the hospital for tests.  It is nothing of a serious nature only; but does have to be dealt with.  We arrived at the hospital to find it will be approximately a 2 1/2 hour wait.  My word, my Noisemaker is not a happy camper.  I sat with him for awhile then said, I am going to take a walk.  It is beautiful fall weather here.  I wandered around the grounds of the hospital; then to the van, I was set to have a cigarette.  There was a fellow two vehicles down from me; he was having a cigarette also, I thought to myself - ah, lip flappin' time.

I went over and said hello; talked about the weather.  He mentioned he was waiting for his wife, who like Noisemaker was in for tests.  My lip flappin' was going very well with my hospital ground acquaintance, a gentleman about 73 or so.  As we were chatting he asked me - what is that pin you are wearing, what does that mean?  (The pin I have attached to my jean jacket is pictured above - The Silhouette made by Charlene Stevenson).  Well, I tell you the lip flappin' went into overdrive.  I said, well this is a pin all the way from Wisconsin, my girlfriend makes these.  This is a silhouette of a folk/country singer named John Prine.  Have you heard of him?  He replies no, I have not but maybe I could asked my grandkids or kids if they have.  I went on to say, John Prine is much a storyteller and his words/music are enjoyed by many a Prine folk.  I remembered I am wearing my Prine t-shirt - my I heart Johnny.  I whip my jacket opened and say oh eh, look at my t-shirt.  He man started to laugh, he says, you must really appreciate this mans music.  I do, I do - I replied.  We laughed.  A few minutes later, I said I best go check in on my husband.  I told him, I will return and thank you so much for chatting with me.

I get back to the hospital, there is my Noisemaker sitting there but not looking as miserable as what he did when I left.  He is next on the list - oh happy days.  I told Noisemaker, I will sit with you until you have to go in, then I will meet you back at the van.  oh teehee, there is a gentleman out there, I am telling him all about John Prine!  Noisemaker shook his head, I laughed and off I went.

I see my gentleman lip flapper waiting by his car, I walk over and start lip flappin' with him.  I told him, you know you quite made my day, passing time waiting for our spouses to finish up in the hospital - it was so nice to talk with you.  He agreed.  I looked up and thought I saw the Noisemaker coming, I said - oh the first is my husband...he looked at me strange.  I looked again, I said, oh no, it is the second husband.  He looked at me and said, how many husbands do you have?  I near laughed myself silly.  Neither of the men were the Noisemaker.

It took me a bit to regain and regroup - lip flap somemore.  ah, then strolls the real Noisemaker.  Oh, I said - here comes my husband.  giggle, giggled my first husband, my only husband.

I thanked the gentleman once again for making my day brighter.  He thanked me and we departed.

It was enjoyable to have some good giggling lip flappin' time with a gentleman, a perfect stranger and of course, to peddle Prine.

The Fox

The Fox

We had a visitor yesterday - late afternoon; what a sweetheart.

We had gone into town yesterday, my word it was so hot when we returned home.  Noisemaker set to fix up his chain saw and I sat out on the porch.  I looked up towards the drive and here prances the fox.  He sat down and looked at me, I started to talk with him.  I had some bun bread so I brought it out for him to eat.  He very much enjoyed it.  Noisemaker set off to feed the birds and the fox followed.  They came back to the porch and the fox decides it too should be on the porch and up he came.  After about five minutes he went back down to ground level and laid down.  He was happy and content.  He would get up from one place, move maybe three or four feet and lay down again.  Near dusk he left, but he'll come back soon.

In the picture there is my Lydia.  My word, we were chatting the other day and she is deeply saddened that Donald has not appeared this summer.  I told her, I have it on good word that Donald loves you the Best!  Oh geez, now how did I know that.  giggle, giggle

The Lake

About a block away from our home.  The water is peaceful again, today.  I love standing by peaceful waters.  Oh geez - where did I get that from?

Beautiful Fall weather we are having.  I do wish we could have had these warm temperatures in June - my tomatoes would have turned out near like some folks in Iowa - major giggle.

Long Monday ~ Seven Deadly Sins

Yesterday, I was listening to John Prine - In Person & On Stage...oh teehee, I saw him there in person and on stage.  Geez, I must check and see if I posted here on meeting John Prine - lol.

On the cd, is Long Monday - near the end of the song - are two lines John sings...

...seven deadly sins sleepin' at the bottom of the deep blue sea
objects in the mirror may appear nearer than they seem to be...

So I google up the seven deadly sins - my word...I am a sinner!

The seven deadly sins are Wrath, Greed, Sloth, Pride, Lust, Envy and Gluttony.

That Pride one - I had to look twice, I quite often get Prine mixed up with otherwords, Prince, Prime, Price.  Yes, I once lived in Prince George - sometimes the mail I send has the address Prine George.

Now back to the seven deadly sins.  It is a religion thingy, yikers, yinkers, yonkers - I am not going there.

I like to live on the sinner side of life.  I like to walk on the wild side but only as much as my height can maintain - that extension is 5'.

Beautiful day on the mountain side, off to enjoy my 5' extension!

John Prine Black/White Can Holder...

My Prine beer can holder is not this, it is the black and white...

My word, it went missing between singing Johnny Horton and Johnny Prine while I was out on the porch singing with my seasonal neighborette.

Do you think I could find it?  I looked for two days, to no avail.  I checked with my seasonal neighborette...do you have it...she replies no.

This morning I find, on my porch - a little plastic bag - contained my Prine black and white.

If you are meant to have something and Miss Place it.  If it comes back to you ~ it is sincerely yours.

...that Prine is mine...

Sunflower

My favorite Sunflower, I love this.

I have had a whirlwind of an activity week.  I simply want to rest, sit a spell, and hope everyone is calm.

My word, when seasonal folks come to stay at their homes, they come not prepared.  Oh, us - us, us - to the rescue.  Can I borrow your telephone, can I take shower...sorry folks - why do you not take the motto of a girl guide and 'Be Prepared'.  How do you wear flip flops here - get a grip.

When my seasonal neighbor arrived with her son, all was well.  Next morning all hell broke loose.  She cannot find her car, her son - he is gone.  Yeppers - that immature boy wrapped the vehicle around a telephone pole.  Age of the 'boy' 38.

I and Noisemaker do assist her with using our telephone; comforting as best we can - but truly folks - all I want to do is listen to Johnny Horton ~ Johnny Freedom, Johnny Prine...oh, for good measure Bruce!  giggle, giggle

Her son lived.

Lydia

Oh my word, Lydia is a fright without her hat...the wind blew it off - tossed down the way, can you see it?  That is not a rock, it is Lydia's hat.

She has been sad this summer, Donald is nowhere in sight.  Lydia is so strong now, her weight gain has enabled her to remain in the upright position all summer.

I hug her from time to time and tell her, Donald may not be here - but Lydia - do not fret, I am.  I'll take care of you.

...but dreamin' just comes natural
like the first breath from a baby
like sunshine feedin' daisies
like the love hidden deep in your heart...
John Prine

The Eagle

Near taking flight.
Lift Off.

Photos - thanks, brother.

eh, eh ~ How Does Your Garden Grow

Stupice Tomato - looks like a snowman to me, but if you turn it the other way, well just use your imagination on that one.  Small in size, but very tasty - full of flavor.

First frost of the year, last night - major frost - holy smucksville.  I will have to cover everything up tonight and hope for the best.

Best, too I will hope for my friend - Chad.  He, possibly may attend John Prine in North Carolina - October 20th.  Fingers crossed -- legs too.

Beautiful day on the mountain side today.  It is peaceful - at the moment.  Well, I can hear the faint music of Chain Saw.  Bet you folks are not too acquainted with that musician...let me tell ya - he ain't no John Prine - major giggle.

It's A Celebration

It is my last night on my own, Noisemaker returns home tomorrow.  Tonight, I celebrate - I built the night fire, now I sit ~ peacefully with music in my ears and music on the television.  The television music is excellent.  I am having a party here, I love it.

I have great music rinking up in my headphones; Woodstock CSN&Y - currently.  I took time today to arrange the cds in some sort of order - well my order.  John Prine, Bruce Springsteen and the others.  Neil Young cannot be included up there on the ledge; there is too many.  He has his own shelf in the cabinet.

Hope you and yours had a great long weekend.  I have had a great five day vacation filled with music and an inversion.  You gotta love it!

My Red Potatoes

At least I got some!

This year I decided to plant some red potatoes in the pot shown.  I really did not expect to receive a so called 'harvest'.

This morning I looked out the window and saw the container was visited by some animal.  Could be too that Donald was prowling around looking for Lydia and knocked it over.  There is my container on the ground, the top of the potato plant broken.  I decided, well - I will see what I have in there - I laughed.  My red potatoes will make a fine stew along with the great harvest of carrots I received this year.  I have one more container of carrots to harvest.  My peppers and tomatoes are on the side of slow - we had no heat in June.  However, when I checked in on the weather forecast seems like we are going to have a beautiful fall with above average temperatures.  I hope so.  I am not looking forward to an early winter - heck, I do not look forward to a late winter - I do not look forward to winter period!

How I Spent My Saturday Night. . .

I do not know if I have mentioned on here how much I detest having to make a fire.  Last night I thought I should make one otherwise it will be too cool in the early morning.  I went outside and hauled in some wood; began preparing for making a fire.  For the love of god, I had an inversion.  I ran and opened up all the windows, smoke is billowing from the woodstove - panic is setting in.  The smoke alarm goes off, panic mode is exploding.  I am thinking I should call my neighbor - he works with the fire department - I do, he is not home.  I can't shut that (many curse words) smoke alarm up.  I am overcome with panic and anxiety.  I run outside with the thought I will go and get my seasonal neighbor (he does not have a telephone).  It is dark outside, but I proceed thinking god, I hope there is no cougar around.  I see no lights on at my neighbors, I run back home.  The smoke has subsided, the alarm has shut up.

I sit down, talk to myself.  You can do this, don't panic, you can do this.  I start to build the damn fire.  It goes smoothly, I feel better.  This is why I need Noisemaker around, it is his jurisdiction to build fire, etc.

I awoke this morning; thought oh - it is cool - I will have to do the (again, many curse words) fire.  I trot to get the wood, bring it near to the stove.  I sat down by the stove...and I told it; look you *)$%i* stove you work with me this morning not against me...is there some part of that you don't understand?  I start to build the fire, I keep lip flappin' to it - it is listening...fire abounds!  I am going to idle it today; that way I do not have to rebuild.

My Noisemaker does not arrive home until Tuesday well, maybe he will be home Monday.  You never know but my guess is he probably misses the old fire building woman ;)

The fire building woman misses the Noisemaker - not his noise, only his fire building capabilities.

Happy Labor/Labour Day

Last night I took the opportunity to watch Le Noise - Neil Young.  It was good, I enjoyed it; especially the song Love and War.

Noisemaker had given me written instructions to operate the remote controls and I did well until the end.  I hit the wrong button and I could not return to the tv screen.  I thought to myself, holy smucksville, Noisemaker goes away and I break the tv.  This morning I went over to my seasonal neighbor and told him of my dilema.  He came over and in seconds the tv screen returns.  Appears like my input was outputting and naturally when I was doing that I did not have my magnifiers on; hence I could not see what the heck I was pressing.  I am just glad to have it back to normal.

Now I am off to CMT to see if I can catch a glimpse of Luke Bryan.  I would love to see that Shake It For Me video, oh my goodness...that might not even be the name of the song...I'm guessing.

Happy Labor/Labour Day to all, enjoy your weekend.  Remember the workers that were before and how they strived to get us to where we are at today.  I truly hope we do not start going backwards.
