The Olympics

The Olympics have come and will return from Rio in four years time.  I am proud of all the Canadian athletes ~ a few stand out as remarkable.  First being Carey Price from Anahim Lake, B.C. (just a short jaunt up the highway from where I reside).  Kudos also to Shea Weber growing up in the Sicamous/Salmon Arm of British Columbia.  He now is the captain of the Nashville Predators.  Last but not least is Jennifer Jones out of Winnipeg.  I have watched her curl for many years and I was very proud that she never lost a game through the trials and then proceeded to win gold.

Congratulations to all our athletes representing Canada - whether they came home with a gold medal or not - they all have gold.

Luke Bryan

Oh my, the day is drawing nearer to when my friends' (Naj) daughter will be in attendance at the Luke Bryan concert in Fargo, North Dakota.  February 28th - yeppers - we should all do the Luke on that day.

I noticed on the itinerary for Luke he is doing concerts in British Columbia.  Not that I will be able to attend but I will sure be thinking of the folks that are.  I will do the Luke on my own, on the mountain side.

Luke will be travelling on up to British Columbia in May 2014.  Doing shows in Vancouver - May 3rd, Kelowna - May 4th, and Dawson Creek - May 6th.

Yeppers, I just might surprise the mountain side residents and rise on up to the back of a pick up truck and dance.  oh my, I can so see myself doing that.  Hells bells, really I do not even need a pick up truck.  Some days when I travel on up the walkway, I do the Luke.

I do Prine on the walkway, I Young, and I Springsteen...sometimes I even get them all rolling on up together.  Such great fun we have - that is my kind of day tour!

Crock It ~ Lock It!

I cooked many meals using a crock pot.  From homemade soups, to roasts, vegetables, and desserts.  A crockpot is an essential appliance in any home.  So is this:

This is an excellent idea.  I do not know how many times, I have blanketed my crock pot and hauled it on to an event.  GREAT!

Ode To Blog

I have enjoyed very much to write on this blog, but I do miss including photos.  I have researched what it is they want me to do and I am not in favor of it.  I do have a choice of words to which I would like to write but I won't.  Be it as it may; I am also researching to opt for a place where pictures do not require the downloading of identities unknown...giggle, giggle.

I hope everyone had a Happy Hearts Day~ah the day for sweethearts.  I made cupcakes.  Vanilla cupcakes with strawberry shortcake icing - geez, they were good.  I tell you those Duncan Hines Frosting Creations packs are great - full of flavor and easy to work with.  I took some cupcakes over for my neighbor, Gary B., and also to the ladies auxiliary of my community.  All were delighted ~ warmed my heart ~ that was my valentine.

Now my Noisemaker, he was scheduled to go out of town for 10 days - yeppers (can you believe that) 10 days.  This was planned back in early January and I was delighted in the fact that I could be on my own and make noise (music) while he would be away.  Unfortunately, the gods were not working with me as now my Noisemaker will not be going out of town but staying home.

I had days planned and my first day the 28th of February was going to be my Luke Day!  Everyone should have days like that.  A Luke Day, a Prine Day - you get the day gist.  The 28th of February - my friend, Naj - her daughter and husband will be in attendance at a Luke Bryan concert in Fargo.  Good heavenly days - could you imagine.  I had plans of Lukeing right along with them.

Then, I would have a John Prine day.  I would sing and dance to my hearts' content.

A Bruce Springsteen day...oh my...I truly did have High Hopes!

I was going to clean house and dance.  Watch CMT and buy a box of beer!  Now, not to be.

A part of me was very sad.  I was looking forward to hauling in wood, doing that (many curse words) woodstove fire to keep the home warm, wondering if I would fall asleep...  Doing dishes whenever, doing anything whenever. . . but for now it will not be.

However, my mind is active.  It Prines', it Youngs' and it Springsteens'.  I love it on days when I get the three all rollin' up there at the same time.  It is pure JOY!

...let my soul roll on up to the Rochester dam
because it is just another roll of the dice and some would think let's
roll another number for the road...

Winter Sucks!

I find it somewhat amusing that with no pictures on this blog - nobody comes to visit.  Hence, how pictures can say more that words.

I must get with the picture and install google chrome and proceed.

Oh my, it was a very cold morning here - we had -30 this morning, that was at 2:00 a.m.  At 6:00 a.m. it was -35.

During the dark hours our power was surging - off and on.  We finally got up and thought about how we would handle a power outage at -30.  Yikers.  The plan is in place.

In this rural area of British Columbia, some years back the power was out for 11 days in the dead of winter.  Many of the elderly folks went to the city, others just buck it and plodded on.

No question it is a hard place to live - especially in the winter months.  You do rather feel like you are trapped on in.

I had thought this year to join on up to the exercise class.  I needed to have running shoes - indoor shoes.  When we went to the village, - well, - eh on up and guess - no, damn running shoes to be had!  I was so frustrated, I near packed my pack and hit the trail of opportunity.

I hope in the spring to get to the city, buy some footwear - including winter boots for next year - teehee and proceed with life on the mountain side.

...and how is your day going...

spring is just a smile away
