Breakfast Time

Nice photo I took this morning of a deer having breakfast, Saskatoon berries.  I saw her earlier this morning looking over at the beets, greens, and assorted other vegetables.  I told her to get on her way, she left - well, I thought she did.  When I went back outside awhile later, here she was having breakfast.
 I shall call her Saskatoonee.

ah, life on the mountain side. . .

Hans - Crazy Man - Helmet Wearer

Hans Helmet Wearer has now taken to the country side of life.  He has traded in his helmet for a cowboy hat.  Here he is singing Hanshide (Rawhide).  I do believe the elevation of the mountain side has taken Hans in directions he is not familiar with.

I must go and directly speak with Lydia, she likes cowboys!

Rollin', Rollin' Rollin'
Rawhide

Lydia, Hans Helmet Wearer, and Agnes

Yikers, Hans Helmet Wearer strikes again (in tow with evil, evil Agnes).  Lydia has had such a busy summer.  She does love the attention she has received from Jose and Hans Helmet Wearer.  Lydia does still wonder where her Donald has gone.  She told me yesterday she thinks the bear may have dragged him off and had a delicious meal.

As for Hans Helmet Wearer, Lyd says that he is a fine man but certainly not in the same category as her Donald...Donald is such a gentleman (even though there are spaces).  Lydia has spaces too, she has an air packed bubble brain.

...there were spaces between Donald and whatever he said
strangers had forced him to live in his head
he envisioned the details of romantic scenes
after midnight in the stillness of the barracks latrine...

Poppies

My pink poppy has a new friend today, a red poppy.  The picture does not do the flowers justice, they are really beautiful.  I was so happy when I came home today to find a new addition.

Unfortunately, I have to report a lone deer came to have breakfast today on my beet tops!  Holy Smucksville, I was not a happy camper when I saw the leftovers.

Other than that, my lil bit of a container garden is coming along really good.  I am surprised what I can grow from containers.  Homegrown tastes so delicious and so fresh compared to store bought produce.  I cannot wait to see what my tomato plants will produce.  Nothing like homegrown tomatoes!

A Morning On The Mountain Side. . .

The ducks are taking a rest and making a big mess.  Photo taken just off public access road about half a mile from where I reside.

When I returned home, this is what was waiting for me. . .
My first poppy blossom.  I grew from seed in a container and really never expected much to happen.  Holy Smucksville, there is a blossom and several buds ready to blossom.  Such a pretty color.

On a sad note, the passing of JJ Cale  ~ Such beautiful songs he wrote - Magnolia is a big time favorite of mine, always will be. RIP JJ Cale.

Beets, from my lil bit of a garden...

Is not this great!  I have never grown beets before - I am so impressed with my first crop.  Today I pickled them.  From seeds planted in a container - I am in wowbeetsville!

Today my Noisemaker turns 67 years old - good heavenly days - hard to believe.  We do not make much of a celebration for events but I will be making a lemon pie when the weather cools.

Here is the song I sang for Noisemaker this morning...

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
I'm laughing like hell
Because I'm younger than you

Lydia and Hans Helmet Wearer

Oh my word, Hans Helmet Wearer has paid Lydia a visit.  I did think that Hans took quite a shine to Lydia; but apparently more than a shine it has been.

Her disheveled appearance when I returned home this morning was - oh my god ~ Noisemaker, somebody has taken Lydia.  Her hair was beyond, but her smile was delightful.

I am going to search for Donald.  Lydia was so happy with Donald - not that she is unsatisfied with Hans Helmet Wearer, but she does need her Donald.

I really enjoy the song - Donald and Lydia by John Prine.  I sincerely hope John does not write about Hans Helmet Wearer, Jose and my darling Lydia.

Oh what a fun filled summer Lydia and I are having!  Cheers!

Little Agnes

We are need a helping hand and Little Agnes is trying so hard to become friends with Lydia.  Lydia is not buying into Little Aggies' ways.

Lil Aggie belongs to my seasonal neighbor, Bob.  Such fun Bob/family and I are having bantering on about Lil Aggie, Jose, Hans Helmet Wearer, Donald, and Lydia.

Speaking of Lydia - the Donald possibly was lurking around last night.  Lydia was a sight to behold this morning.  Her bubble pack head was attached, but her hat was not.  Of course, the neighbors all had to come over and gaze upon the beauty of no hat Lydia and ponder . . .

Lydia - Agnes - and now another woman

It appears that brutal Agnes has taken a friend.  Lydia has two woman to fight over Donald, Jose, and Hans Helmet Wearer.  Good grief and holy smucksville what is Lydia to do?

Lyd continues to hover, she wishes, wants, but does not do laundry.

Oh, such fun we have Lydia, Jose, Agnes, Hans Helmet Wearer ~ my seasonal neighbor, and I.

Thank You ~ John Prine!

Prine Time~Play Time

For the last couple of weeks, I have been watering the newly planted lawn of a neighbor down the road.  Oh what a delightful time I have!  I arrive and immediately set up the sprinkler to watering - then I sit and eat my cereal.
Change the location of the sprinkler, pick up some sticks and rocks and lip flap to whomever is passing by.  I have taken along some cds to listen to and of course, sing along with.  Today I Prined!  I was so pleased with my watering, my Prineing, I took a photo!

Lydia

Is this not the look of love?

Lydia ponders, wishes, and waits for her Donald, Jose, or Hans Helmet Wearer.

She is starting to question her principles, morals, and ways of the world.

I relay to her ~ my dearest Lydia ~ you are your own scarecrowette, you are precious to all that share this world.

We All Love Lydia!
We Will Always Love Lydia!
She Is A Beautiful, Wonderful Scarecrowette!

As a side note here, I do not believe that the fellow who wrote the song Donald and Lydia - (John Prine), ever anticipated such accolades/postings would come from some scarecrowette.  Too funny.

The Saga of Donald and Lydia

My Lydia has competition.  Egads - Agnes!

Holy Smucksville, Lydia was in quite a fret this morning, she does not like guns.  Agnes is a wild, wild women - she is pure evil.

I suspect Donald must have been around last night as I found a flashlight near Lydia.  For all I know, maybe it was Jose or Hans Helmet Wearer.

God knows what the coming week will have in store in the continuing sage of Donald and Lydia ~ Jose, Hans Helmet Wearer and now Agnes!

Lydia

Lydia is struck/taken with Donald, Jose, and Hans Helmet Wearer.

She has left slices of a dark chocolate bundt cake (fudge filling and chocolate glaze), for whoever arrives first.  I do wonder who it will be. . .

...and felt just like Sunday on Saturday afternoon...
~Donald and Lydia~ John Prine

Lydia ... and Hans?

My word, Lydia has suddenly become very popular.  Apparently, this fellows' name is Hans Helmet Wearer and he has taken a shine to Lydia.

So happy I am for my dear Lydia.  She deserves nothing but the best and my word she has certainly found it with Donald, Jose, and now Hans!

You Go Girl!

Donald and Lydia

Good heavenly days, the Donald arrived!

Lydia is so very happy.  Donald brought a bottle of something and they chatted until the wee hours of the morning.

I went to see Lydia a few minutes ago...she tells me that Donald is a wonderful, kind gentleman.

Long live Lydia and Donald!

Egads, My Dear Lydia. . .

Holy Smucksville, my darling Lydia has no head.

I was gone away from the home for just over four hours and came home to Lydia having no head.  We have had great winds and a rain storm is anticipated to blow in.  I trust it was the winds that have brought Lydia into the realm of no head.  I did try to set her up again, the wind came in again, and knocked her bubble head off.  I shall try again when the weather calms.

The second time around of the head knocking event, I said to Lydia - my word, girl - do you think Donald wants to pay you a visit?

When I look at the above photo, good lord, I see Donald - or some foreign object a float in the formation of the clouds.  Ah, but alas, Lydia is somewhat protected by the little angel.

I trust, John Prine never anticipated the words to Donald and Lydia would be such an event as they have become in my life on the mountain side.

The Lake

Up the road from where I reside.
A beautiful place indeed.  Especially in the summer months.

The Red Poppy

My neighbor, Bob's poppy.  It is so beautiful and the only one red.  The other poppies are orange.

Beautiful sunny day on the mountain side.  My little container garden is coming along very well.  I have a variety of tomato plants - eight of them.  I grew from seed, so proud of myself.  I only hope the deer do not come and decide to eat them for breakfast, lunch, or supper.  The suncatchers work well - the deer do not like them spinning and shining.  I love them especially the Prine ones.

Flowers

Columbine (red/yellow) - one of my favorite flowers.
Pink/Purple Lupins and some kind of daisy - all the flowers well, they just make me on the side of happy :)
A variety of Tiger Lily.  It is small, only about one foot high.  The flowers are approximately 1" in size.  Very dainty.

Hope you are all smilin' - have a good weekend, folks.

Introducing, Stevie. . .

My little scarecrow, I call him Stevie, he is next to Prine (the suncatcher).  So cute, he is.  Between him and Lydia, I get a big smile on my face when I go to the garden.

Speaking of Lydia - oh my, the poor dear lost her head two times the other day.  I got it back on, but not secure and poofola - down it came again.  Lydia's head is made up of bubble packs so it does not take much to have it come flying off.  I fixed it correctly after the wind had ceased - she is very happy now.  Geez, even my seasonal neighbors came over to see Lydia.  They laughed and both commented on her lovely new hat.  My darling, Lydia.

New Prine

New Prine is right!  Working very hard to protect my tomato plants from those four legged critters, the deer.

I am wondering how many of you actually were thinking new Prine as in a new cd.  Teehee
