Cow Chasin'

These big heathens came to visit me early this morning. I have been on cow duty endlessly today. Smucksville, there was a bull out there that had to have weighed in at 2,000 lbs. He was huge. I had my stick with me and starting hollering (no need to type the words I used). I was so loud, Noisemaker came running out...wondering...

I gave my stick to Noisemaker, he is braver than I. I stood back and did the handclappin'.

Just when you think they have left, 20 more show up.

The dark brown heathen in the picture tried to stare me down, he did not win - I did!

It Is HOT!

My word, we are nearing 100 degrees outside, it is hot. Our community hosts a fishing derby this weekend (a long weekend in my province). My lips will be flappin' - toes a tappin - and, beer a drinkin'.

Lots of seasonal folks come in for the fishing derby. I met a young fellow last night, naturally my lips were flappin'. Smucksville, he knew John Prine. Favorite song - Paradise.

eh, how lucky can one permanent resident get!

Here's The Menu

For Noisemaker's dinner, we have whipped up - bbq chicken (he bbq's that). I made homemade teriyaki sauce; homemade potatoe salad, and of course, the cake!

I picked a few daisies for the centerpiece.

Happy 64th, Gary.

1946 - A very good year, my husband, John Prine, and George Bush! ;)

Here's The Cake!

ah, my Noisemaker turns 64 tomorrow, here is a photo of the cake I baked for him. We cut the cake yesterday because he could not stand to look and not touch anymore.

Four layers, white cake. Lemon pie filling between each layer - topped with whipped cream. My good god, it is so goooood, I had it for breakfast!

1946 - not only was Noisemaker born, but John Prine was too - yikers so was George Bush!

Side note - folks we have not moved from the mountain. The postal system changed our address from a box to physical. All is well - thanks.

Happy Birthday Noisemaker!

you are what you are and you ain't what you ain't'

Last Night

Teary eyed day it was for our family, remembering our Mom. My brother called last night, in an emotional way, we had such a nice chat. It was sad, but fun ~ remembering our Mom, the times we spent growing up as a family in northern British Columbia. We cried, we laughed.

Recently, my brother ordered on up through www.ohboy.com via music fans direct - In Person & On Stage. We did big time lip flappin' on that. I told him many of the songs, yep, Wesley - I have seen John Prine in person play them....you know I had him sign the Hatch Print and lord, Wes, I nearly peed my pants. Wesley asked about the dedication, Tom Reynolds. I explained Tom Reynolds, I was acquainted with but I never got to meet him or ride on his harley. Tom had passed away.

...Tom had sent me a fridge magnet, three of them, I sent one to Wesley and then, explained that is Tom Reynolds (Crusher), the fellow in the magnet. Betcha Tom would never be explained as the guy in the magnet!

...Wesley commented how nice that was of John Prine to dedicate In Person & On Stage to a good fan. I told Wes, Tom had been to near 100 concerts of John Prine.

It was a bittersweet conversation and geez, in my selfish way, I just wanted to hug them on up. But eh, huggin' is a good thing - if only I had longer arms.

Today

I have been keeping myself busy, busy, busy. Trying to inform neighbors of seasonal what trees have fallen. Some lunatic was out choppin' - my guess drunk choppin' and downed the power lines. Oh, the stupid idiot. Honestly, I could have thrown a flinger at him, but I regrouped and thought, I need not waste my time nor my breath.

I swear when seasonal folks come up, they think they can do anything. There are no precautions taken, lets' just do it. Before you know it sparks on flying, they have no telephone to dial up 911. They rely on the residential permanent folks. ME. I have tried time and time again to educate the people ~ to make them see that I live here all year. I do not escape to lotus land. I try to talk to them, tell them no laptop or cell phone will work here - did you forget how high you are in elevation...or are you that high?

Now, off to bbq some bratwurst, have it with mustard and kraut. Love that.

I Miss You

Tomorrow is the anniversary of the death of my Mom, geez - I miss her so.

So sad, it is. All I can do is just sit and cry for a spell - I do this every year.

My Mom had the sweetest smelling lipstick, I still remember the scent. Her lipstick was always placed atop of the bathroom sink.

When she was nearing the passing stage, my Mom called me - told me here ducks were in order - told me what dress she wanted for her funeral (the boys will never find it), - told me the jewels she wished to be buried with. I contacted my brother and gave her wishes. They were able to find the dress, they found everything.

At the viewing, my brother - Wesley went first. He came back and said to me - she does not have lipstick on. Noisemaker and I went to the funeral home. I took all the lipsticks I had with me. The funeral director came in...I said, can we please put some lipstick on my Mom - she always wore lipstick. The funeral director went and got a lipstick brush, I painted a pinkish/reddish lipstick on my Mom's lips.

I stepped back and cried my eyes out knowing full well the next person to visit my Mom would be my Dad.

I step back now, to the porch - and Mom ~ this cigarette is for you - I love you and miss you.

J Spruce

eh, you will all have to go on the side of focus to see this. Today, I was out snapping photos and came across a spruce tree sprouting a J. John Prine is on the mountain side!

I hope you can see it.

Special days to note ~
Happy Birthday Charlene
Happy Birthday Bill
Happy Anniversary Charlene and Bill
Cheers!

Music In The Mail

I recently have received much music in the mail. Geez, I love it!

Malcolm Holcombe, David Gray, and Old Crow Medicine Show just to name a few.

These OCMS guys, they are good. I would love to see them in person twankin' that southern twank. Remember, I am in the interior of British Columbia so everything is south of me. The very first song I listened to mentions Johnson City. I thought of Chad. If my memory is serving me correct - Mark, Chad and his friends met there to see either Chris Knight or Malcolm Holcombe.

It is great to have the internet and it is more than appreciated the friends I have. Thanks!

Friday - 10.07.16

My lips have gone to a stage of calming. The seasonal folks have departed, tomorrow more flock on in. It is delightful. Geez, I did not realize how much I miss talking with folks and having a giggle or two...or three.

Donald must have came to visit Lydia last night. Her nose is missing, her scarf is all tangled up and once again she has the tilted head. Honestly, I do not know what is coming to visit Lydia; it is an animal, I just do not know what animal has taken a fancy to Lydia.

Beautiful weather we are having here. Besides lip flappin', I have been busy painting. I painted the exterior door and trim, the steps, and the bird hotel. Tomorrow, I stain up the kids picnic table and then all will be complete.

Toe Tappin' ~ Lip Flappin'

Yes, yes, I have been busy with my lip flappin' and toe tappin'. Lots of seasonal folks have arrived on the mountain side and naturally, I have to speak with each and every one of them. One particular lady offered up some beers, ah and hmm...I would never pass up a beer. Oh my goodness it was such fun!

I introduced her to John Prine; but she did not have much appreciation for such music. I put on some Johnny Cash; well that was too country for her. I then posed the question, which John would you like, John Mellencamp, John Lennon, John Forgerty. She replies, maybe we should go outside and that we did.

We were sittin' out there on the porch and suddenly we hear a snap, crackle, and see smoke! Lord help me, some loonie is out there cutting trees down and he has landed two trees on the power line. Sparks are flying. I am flying too, right to the telephone to dial 911. I do not mess with fire.

The mountain side fire department is quick to arrive. Everything ended up on the side of ok, thank god. As I sit here and type this out, I await for the power company to arrive - they have to reposition the wires.

Last but for sure not least, Donald came to visit Lydia on Monday night. My word, I went porch side Tuesday morning and what a sight to behold was Lydia. I think her and Donald were doing some mighty fine lip smackin' as her head was tilted, her scarf was hanging loose, and for god sakes her suspenders had broken. I had words with Lydia and told her after Donald comes to visit, Lydia - Lydia ya gotta fix yourself up, you have to be dolled and decked for Donald's next visit. She understood completely!

Oops!

I was outside snapping photos today, I brought the camera in to download. I did not press the correct button and instead I took this photo. This is what sits left on the computer desk.

Half a pen, half an eyeglass lens, photo of my Mom and I (dancing), my dog and I, and angel rocks.

I love the reflection in the eye glass.

Oh, Eh, Wow ~ A Bear

As previously mentioned, I like to spend my mornings in peace. On the deck, I have my coffee and one cigarette. Wow - did that change this morning. In the blink of an eye, I am facing a big, huge black bear - near 20 feet away from me. He was on the dead out run and his strides, well they had to have been near 7 feet. I was thankful I was not out weeding or painting or the big black bear would had me for breakfast.

I contacted two of my lady friends up the road, as they do walk early in the morning. Geez, my neighborhood is falling apart. Olga relays to me, her dog (11 years) suffered a heart attack. Gerty informs me she has broken her wrist (not shattered). Olga is 78, Gerty is 77.

And, then I have that mighty fine neighbor, Chris. I have no words.

When I Woke Up This Morning...

What have should have a been a very peaceful, calm situation; thank my fine neighbor, again, you have busted my brain, caused me to curse, and I am strongly thinking I should pray to god to get you the hell out of here.

I rise up early, 5:00 a.m. I always have done this, it is nothing new.

I generally, quietly make one cup of coffee, I pee, I dress up and by that time the coffee is done. I can continue with my peaceful morning.

I walked outside this morning only to find an arm sliding, picking, and throwing garbage from my garbage can...Chris - searching for some long lost cigarette butts....

-What are you doing, get the hell out of there? Do not do that, that is my garbage...get out of here...f off. He left.

My good lord, I received such a headache. Thank you neighbor. I was scheduled to do volunteer work this morning, I had to leave soon - I had to tell Noisemaker the news of the day on the property on the mountain - he was not pleased. I try, once again, deal with it.
~~~
A dear friend/family lost their dog on Monday - does anyone know how how it is to lose a dog? My word, in all honestly I found it easier to suffer the death of my Mom and Dad than I did for my dog.
To this day, at times, I can still smell his fur, I can hug him. It is so precious.
Love comes and goes in many ways
It is the simple things in life
Once recognized
trax are made
HAHAHA, enjoy life!
Malcolm Holcombe
Geez, I do not know who to thank for the photo - but thank you to the person who posted.
Malcolm Holcombe, a person - an individual on his own. He sings with conviction, like John Prine.
Do all the unknown male singers come from the south? I live in Canada, south can be Washington State, Idaho, Montana. Seems like it maybe further south, south I must visit.
I received, Malcolm from a dear friend of mine, Chad. Chad, thank you.
...he's drivin' me to hell in Greyhound...singin'...yeeeeppeeeheeeeeiiiiiooooo (not dead on words).
Flowers/Sunshine
My new mobiles.
That lil flower, I love it! The ray of sunshine brightens up the flowers' day. Naturally, Lydia is very impressed, she loves her new mobile friends - geez, can't ya tell?
Noisemaker asked if I was drinking when I made the sunshine - answer not. Those are rays from the sun, the sun is not even nor are the rays. Too funny, the cd broke and split - it gave it great character, it is a spunky lil bit of sunshine!
When I was making the sunshine, I was singing You Are My Sunshine. I believe that is one of Louisiana's state songs, written in 1939.
Happy Birthday, Canada
Yes, today is Canada's birthday. Lots of seasonal folks are here to celebrate, and celebrate they do!
I was up and outside early this morning, chatting up a storm with the seasonal folk that lean to the early morning side of life. Oh, what fun I had. Sometimes, I miss the chatty side of me. I think I am catching up. I was singing Prine, dancing - great fun!
The weather is beautiful, not too hot - no rain. But eh, yesterday morning came a sprinkle of snow, I was in near disbelief. I came to the box here, and decided I should make some more mobiles. I made a sunshine and the cutest little flower - good lord, ya just want to hug it. I got some willow wood this morning and made some holders. I plunked them into my flowers pots in hope that the deer will not get to close and eat up my lettuce! I shall take a photo and post at a later time.
