Winter in the Forest

Beautiful pinecone laced with fresh snow.
Wild rose bush seed pods.

One Eye Lyd

Good Lord, it appears my dearest Lydia has only one eye now.

One Eye Lyd!  too funny.

I was not able to bring Lydia into her resting place this autumn - the blast of winter came on very quickly this year.  I decided Lydia will stay up until next spring.  I shall give her a new ensemble at that time.

When I noticed Lydia was with only one eye I trotted on down in the deep snow - my word, I found her eye!  I made it safely back into the house and promptly slapped the Lydia eye on my eyelid.  Showed it to my Noisemaker and gave a big roar of laughter.  Noisemaker shook his head.  He does not understand Lydia and I.  teehee. . .

Lydia continues to be such fun for me, my one eye Lyd.

My Perch

It truly amazes the incidents I have in the wee hours of the morning.  About two weeks ago I went outside to sit on my perch as I generally do each morning around 4:30/5:00 a.m. to have my coffee and my cigarette.  After I finished the coffee and cigarette, I decided to walk the steps and go down to the landing.  What the hell was I thinking.  Try to see the picture - it is pitch black outside, you cannot see anything.  I have no flashlight - I generally do carry one, but on this morning I left it in the house - duh?  I walk the steps, all is well - I take one step off the bottom landing and boom, boom I fell flat on my butt!  I laid there and thought, (many curse words), I do not think I have broken anything - I am intact!  Yeah!  I erect myself and walk the steps into the house.  My noisemaker is still sleeping. . .

Upon his awakening, I told him he best be careful when he goes to feed his feather friends this morning because it is icy outside, I fell.

About six hours later, I feel - as I sat down a terrible, big ouch on my right side.  I went and looked in the mirror - oh for the love of god, it looks as if I have been kicked by one of those free ranging cows that roam here in the summertime.  I am black and blue on my upper thigh and my butt.  Seems like I fell on the corner of the landing and the step.

Now we forward to two days ago.  I am on my perch, enjoying my coffee and my mind says do not, Bev, do not walk to the landing - sit on your perch.  I abide.  I finish my coffee and cigarette and am going back into the house.  I reach for the doorknob and hear the crashing sound coming from around the corner and low and be (curse word) hold this great black beast is there.  I yelped on out...then I realized it is the dog from up the road.  Scared me near to death, my heart was racing like I am sitting in the concerto of John Prine or Bruce Springsteen.  I launched myself indoors in deep panic, trying to calm my fright.

I thought my Noisemaker was sleeping but in the darkness of the safe abode, I hear...Bev, - did you fall again...are you okay?  I laughed and replied, it is okay - I did not fall - I am intact.  It was the K-Bear from up the road making all that noise - go on back to sleep, I am going to read the 6 o'clock news.

Winter on the Mountain Side. . .

Towards the creek, but I do not travel down there in the winter months :)

Some would call this a winter paradise. . .

I call it home.

John Prine - Exhibit, Nashville, TN

This makes a great header!

Geez, I must inquire to the fine folks down Nashville way and see if they would have any leaflets coming out to commemorate such a fine event!

It would be my Souvenir!

see more here:

Search - John Prine - yes go quick.  The link I had previously was non linky-link.

How proud John Prine must be to have his own exhibition at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville.

John Prine is now a tad under the weather - it is flu season - and flu he has.  The concerts for Madison/Green Bay - Wisconsin will be rescheduled. I have a few more chances to win up the lotto - eh, then I would join them - we would Prine, fine!  IMAGINE!

The Grouse

Wow - I could not believe my luck in snapping this photo.  Perfect!  She/he is back - we always have had a family of grouse here - over the winter months.

I pick the Saskatoon berries in the summer months and freeze them so they can eat up in the winter months.  Delightful for the grouse and now I must give it a name. . .

My Lydia

Lydia's Winter Ensemble Debut!

Major giggling.  Lydia is going to stay for the winter months.  From when the picture was taken until today, well - add one foot of snow.  I am fine with her staying out for the winter months.  She can dream of her Donald, Jose, and Hans.

When the snow hit this year we got blasted, mega.  I try to walk but my god, I was up to my knees in snow.  The Noisemaker is out there making noise as I write this - doing machine talk and blowing the snow off the driveway.

Welcome to Winter, Lydia ~ Enjoy!

John Prine and Son

ah, the proud Father gives a look over to the son.

Yeppers, it is a Paradise moment.  So special ~ so family.

Nashville, 2013. ~ (my apologies, I do not know who took the photo), many thanks.
