Haida Gwaii - part eight

And, now Haida Gwaii - we say goodbye - until we meet again.
Thank you to all the sponsors, the folks I met on Haida Gwaii - you are in a paradise all your own ~ I am thankful to have visited your home.

Haida Gwaii - part seven - Queen Charlotte

Our second accommodation - The Floathouse.  This was pure wowsville.
Queen Charlotte docks.  All the fisherman, boats, I loved it here.
The jellyfish came to visit as did many seals.
Not a great picture, hope you get the gist.

Haida Gwaii - part six - Tlell

On the ocean shores at Tlell, Haida Gwaii - beautiful.
The owner of the bed and breakfast is very creative.
Some of her work.
The ocean

Haida Gwaii - part five

Bud's Diner - back to the 50's tonight.  Great food.  North end of Haida Gwaii in Masset.
No John Prine on this jukebox. Still cool just the same.
Volunteer Fire Department - Masset/Haida Gwaii.  A charming little village.  Old Masset is not a charming little village.  You view how folks actually live, a good perspective to have of the island folks.

Haida Gwaii - part four

Brand new totem erected June 2017. North end of Haida Gwaii near Tow Hill/Naikoon.
Yes, right from the 60's...in the middle of nowhere.  Delicious cinnamon buns, great atmosphere, and great folks!

Haida Gwaii - part three

North end of Haida Gwaii.  Absolutely breath taking beauty.
Agate Beach.  Not a good day for agate picking, I found one!
Yours truly at Agate Beach - Haida Gwaii.

Haida Gwaii (part two)

Main totem at Haida Gwaii Heritage Centre.
Yours truly with my Prine tote at the totem.
Haida canoe being constructed.
Haida canoes - beautiful work.

Haida Gwaii (trip of a lifetime)

I am still in disbelief that I won the trip to Haida Gwaii, visited it, saw the way folks live there and returned safely to a forest fire filled mainland British Columbia.

Here are a few pictures.
Our first stop after departing from the ferry was to the Haida Gwaii Heritage Centre.  Great place and great restaurant is Kay Bistro.  One of the many totems we saw on our trip.
A piece at the museum.  I was busy snapping photos - only to come across a sign that read - Sorry, do not take pictures.
Another piece of artwork.

Haida Gwaii is beautiful.  A place out there ~ all on its' own.

Beyond Words ~ John Prine ~ (went north)

My Beyond Words by John Prine is now safely in the hands of my brother (the retired postman).  I took it up for him to read/play the guitar and left it with him while we went to Haida Gwaii.  Upon our return, I could sense he thought this book to be a treasure.  I told him, you keep it...it is obvious to me you are getting much more use out of it than I will.  He was so happy, I was Beyond Words - happy for him.

John Prine Drawing

John Prine as drawn by my great nephew, Brayden. Ain't it cool.  Talented young man he is, 14 years old, and loves to draw. B...
