The Barkerville Five - Part Two

Here we are one day last week.  Ali was somewhat alert and talkative.  Then she slipped into deep morphine sleep.  She awakes 3 days later, rings on up the nurse.  Nurse comes in and Ali says to her, come on - I need food, apple juice, f word - give me anything now!

Today, we went to visit her.  Her husband brought us a bottle of wine - to which we drank - did cheers - oh, it was great fun.  Ali was back to Ali.  She understood her circumstances and told us...yes, I may not be going back home, but f that, we are here now so Cheers - and Cheers we did!

She had a good breakfast and lunch.  Sometimes, folks rebound for the last call.  I hope this is not Alis' last call.

Photo is Jo, yours truly, Ali, Karin, and Deb.  We had a great time.

The Barkerville Five

Our Barkerville Five will soon be four.  Ali is now in hospital facing her lasts days of life on oxygen and morphine.

The four of us have gone to visit her, several times - made her smile and even giggle a bit.  The nurse said it was okay to bring in some wine, so we did.  Ali's eyes lit up and she said in a raspy voice, a sentence - how did you do that!  We let her take her time and then we toasted to The Barkerville Five.

They gave her six months to live with out treatment, two years with...she opted for two years with chemo.  She just made it over the two year mark.  She is minute by minute now.

A very sad, sad time.

John Prine - The Tree Of Forgiveness

Here you go folks!  Many hearts around the world have been still.

I will try to do the links again, they did not linky link to Prine.

Odd how everything in life works.  We are so snowed in on the mountain side and have not been able to get to town for food stables.  I had the opportunity today to get a ride into town.  The hours involved were the exact time Prine was lip flapping on facebook.  Missed all.  However, the great Prinette Reeda was able to linky link me through facebook and be still my heart - there was our Johnny.

Please check your facebook account under John Prine to hear the full questions and answers with Fiona and John.

Question/answer period - I did pose a question.  It was one that was not opted to answer.  My friend, Naj - her question was answered.  Happy Hearts Day a week early.  How she did that from Mexico - eh - she is Canadian!

Well Done! ~ Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Prine.

John Prine - new cd

Yeppers, coming April 13th - oh lordy!

See more here - https://ohboy.com/news/

I have no idea what the title of the cd is, I was fortunate to hear a song from it...something about the moon, the stars, coming home.

Good day for a release, Friday the 13th.  My niece and grand nephews' birthday.  Thanks Mr. Prine.

I am looking forward to the new cd, it has been a spell.  Now, I wonder ...   will he come to Vancouver...I must start doing the pop can/beer can job.  I will not miss Prine in Vancouver - it could well be the last time he tours.  Oh my...

Barbie Knitted Dress, et al

Unfortunately, the Barbie doll I am using as a model was found in the ditch on the road to where I reside.  Poor darling had no hair, no feet, and no hands.

However, she is sparkling in this orange ensemble evening dress.  lol  Is not she just a dazzling diva!  I am making assorted knitwear for my grand nieces.  I hope the meet with a gazed eye and oh Mommy, look at this!

Please note - do not watch television and try to knit and purl.  It does not work - however, a 5 and 7 year old will never notice.

Geez, I hope the youngins' enjoy and the parents are delighted to spend a few minutes being entertained by a Barbie Fashion Show.

Belated New Year Greetings

Oh my, it has not been that I have been busy as a bee...I have been tardy and had far too much relaxation.  Time to start walking in the deep snow and pray I do not fall - break bones.

I hope to all, that 2018 brings you and yours happiness, good health - well, All The Best.

I look forward to 2018 - John Prine will have a new cd released.  I will keep you all posted, for sure!

Nana/Gramma Rental

I acquired a new job and oh how fun it is.  I became a rent-a-nana!  A single Mom (who works out of town a couple days of the month) down the road came to our door about two weeks ago.  I was not home, I was out walking.  She inquired to the noisemaker if I would be interested in a Nana/Gramma job/house sitting/animal sitting.  She left her number and I called back.  I was hired on the telephone.

I was scheduled to attend my Nana/Gramma job in a week.  Such a great time we had.  During the day I watched my favorite tv show, The Waltons and knitted.  The dog (Sugar) and the two cats to which whose names I could not spell to you - we had great fun...chasing squirrels and meowing/barking/chit chatting to each other.

The young lady (14 years old) is not comfortable here on the mountain side staying by herself at night (I do not blame her, I am 62 and not comfortable alone) - hence - Rent-A-Nana/Gramma!  Perfect for me.

This is a great job, I love it!  I telephoned to the Mom last night to make sure both had returned home safely.  All was well.  Mom relayed to me...my daughter wants to know if we can keep you...yeppers, I said - done deal.  How special life is!

Merry Christmas!

Busy, Busy, Busy ~ Merry Christmas

Gords' Chain Of Sorrow

Recently, a dear friend of mine died from cancer.  I was not able to make it to the Celebration of Life, but celebrated with many happy thoughts of our friendship through out the years.

Back in the 70's Gord and I traveled to Vancouver, B.C. to see John Prine.

Now, in 2017 here I read on the back of Gords' memorial card...

...you can gaze out the window, get mad and get madder ~ throw your hands in the air ~ say what does it matter ~ but it don't do no good to get angry so help me I know ~ for a heart strained in anger grows weak and grows bitter ~ you become your own prisoner as you watch yourself sit there ~ wrapped up in a trap of your very own Chain of Sorrow - John Prine
