Thank you Jason Wilber for the photo.  Jason was the Co-Executive Producer on

John Prine ~ Nashville - 2016/10/01

Wowsville, Prinesville - Call It What You Want Ville.

From the posts I have received so far, it must have been the best Prine show to date.  Many musicians attended Johns' 70th birthday party.  A few (that I know) - Jason Isbell, Amanda Shires, Kathy Mattea, and Lee Ann Womack.  Family of Johns' ~ wife, Fiona along with their sons Tommy and Jack.  Also brother Billy Prine.  It would not be a Prine concert without the outstanding bass/guitar playing of David Jacques and Jason Wilber.

John was presented with the keys to the City of Nashville by the reigning Mayor Megan Barry.  Received a birthday cake from all on stage and everyone joined on in the song Happy Birthday tune for John Prine.

Happy 70th Birthday, John Prine.

John Prine ~ Vancouver ~ 2016/July ~ Incidentals. . .

My recent departure off this cursed mountain side to see John Prine in Vancouver, British Columbia has somewhat made me come to see a light bulb...ideas ~ possibilities ~ and being thankful.

In honestly is not too harsh in living here compared to the lower mainland of my beautiful province.  I have fresh air to take in, my air does not contain any smog, and people wave/stop/chat say hello in there.  There is no noise, it is calm and peaceful - I live near a lake and our home banks on a creek.

Yes, the winters are long, I must start to think of winter activities to partake in - soon!  I knit, I participate in community events and fundraisers.

Yes, I made knitting this Prine go-a-round for the ladies of the artists - the Mrs. of Prine/Jacques/Wilber.  I hope they all find a smile in homemade gifts.  It is a pleasure to make homemade gifts.

Destination Vancouver - you will be told to the hotel to which you stay - do not wear anything that will attract people of the undesirable nature to you.  That translates to women wearing big diamonds, men wear jerseys/hockey jackets.  It is best to leave that all at home.

I have know this for many a year, so yes, my wedding rings, etc., were removed before I left the mountain side.  geez, what a nice way to have to live. . .

Upon a very late arrival to my destination, I was greeted by fair skies and the anticipation of Prine the following day weighed heavy on my mind.  Would everything go right - would something go sideways (if so, what is my back up plan - smucksville?).

All did go relatively well, as planned, and my security was good.  My mind was not so secure in walking the streets near my hotel.

I did good.  I made it off the mountain side and returned safely ~ without getting robbed, raped, or murdered.

As for the Venue of Prine - Vogue - Vancouver - excellent.  The sound was great.  Seating not so great - to the four tall guys that sat in front of me...smucksville, you made me 'one sit leg' throughout the entire concert.  I loved how you chatted with your heads touching each other.  If I had my flingers, I would have tapped you on the head and said...buddies - let us break this up...short people are behind you.  I did not have flingers, but I did briefly stand up and knock the shoulders...like get it you fn lunactics -  lol.

Glad to see John Prine again, very glad.  I do not see in my future this will happen again...this was my last Prine Merry-Go-Round.  John will be celebrating his 70th birthday this year in October.  As will my Noisemaker...yikers, he will be 70 this month.

Best wishes to both.  All The Best to my Noisemaker and John Prine.

John Prine ~ Vancouver ~ 2016.07.09

Pure Prine Delight!

Paradise with (from left to right) Jason Wilber, Dustin Bentall, John Prine, David Jacques, and Barney Bentall.  The song was Paradise and paradise it was.

I am so very thankful I could attend and get off this mountain side for a few days.  It was the best Prine concert I have attended, it was golden.

Holy Prine Smucksville, I had a great time at the concert.  Excellent, perfect - I could not have asked for anything more.

I had some songs in mind that I thought I would like to hear him sing and much to my delight he sang near all of them.  Yeppers, I had to just yell on out hey, hey, Johnny!

John started the concert off with a Merle Haggard tune - Ramblin' Fever.  I thought to myself....oh this is going to be a great concert.

The highlight songs for me were - Saddle In The Rain (extended version), Sins of Memphisto, Chain of Sorrow, Storm Windows and You Got Gold.  The crowd very much enjoyed Illegal Smile.

Jason Wilber and David Jacques were both outstanding along side John Prine.

I met some new Prine fans and some old Prine fans.  I spoke to about eight people who, this John Prine concert, was their first John Prine concert.  They were all highly impressed with John.

All in all, Prine ~ Vancouver ~ Excellent (***** five starts)
Thank You, Mr. Prine

John Prine - Vancouver, B.C. -

From 2009
John Prine autographing the Hatch Print.

And, to Prine I will be on July 9th, 2016.  Got my greyhound, good walking shoes, and my hotel booked.  Oh yes, and my ticket too - lol.

How exciting this is for me.

This Prine time around I thought I would take some of my knitted dishcloths for the Mrs. of Prine, Wilber, and Jacques.  Oh yes and Mrs. Nicholas Faddy.  I figured the fellows must receive many a gift, but not the other half staying at home.  With this here is a photo of some of my knitted stuffola.  The winter is long here, I knit mega.

I'm gonna get on the old greyhound and I'm gonna ride
Straight down the mountain to the city side
Noisemaker will miss me because I'm bona fide
Vancouver here I come from the mountain side, B.C.

Jason Wilber

Recently ~ John Prine, Jason Wilber, and David Jacques were guests on the Colbert Report.  Songs played were How Lucky Can One Man Get and Paradise.  Stephen Colbert joined in on Paradise.  My favourite John Prine song.

Good Grief, I do not understand if John, Jason, and David played at the zoo, why would they not play at my mountain side home.  The wildlife here is wild, it is nature - come on up and visit me John, Jason, and David.  I would feed you, treat you to my find taste of baking goods, and too boot you could go fishing...bring that whistle because we do have bears.

Oh yes, and bring the guitars!

I must depart, the laughter I am experiencing - well, I best get some good old mountain air.  Off to the outdoors, I am.  Perhaps I will do some of that Prinercizing.  lol

Secret Window - Something Blue (Jason Wilber)

Secret Window - Something Blue

A new band including Jason Wilber.

Jason is a multi talented musician/songwriter - a gentleman of true distinction.  He has been a staple ingredient in the recordings of John Prine.

Catch a listen on the link above - hopefully, the link works (I am never quite certain on the linky links).

Best Wishes to Jason.

The Black Vest

Thank you Charlene for taking the picture.

Jason Wilber, yours truly, and David Jacques.

The first christmas Noisemaker and I spent together (some 30 plus years ago) the gift he purchased for me was the black vest in this photo.  I love this vest, I wore it every chance I could.  The vest was near in shreds so I laid it to rest last week.  My word, my eyes started to leak.  I have such fond memories of the time I spent with my vest.  I wore it to Prine, Springsteen, Young, ah, the list of events is endless.  So long ~ you will be miss.

2012/2013

As the year is drawing to a close, I am taking a moment or two to reflect.

2012 was a good year.  I got to meet my Prine friend, Janis Ferguson and her husband, Brett.  We had a great lip flappin' time and a John Prine concert to which we loved and as always, the faucets in my eyes, opened up.

I got to meet David Jacques, finally.  The Hatch Print was completed on May 5th, 2012.  I was delighted to meet David, truly a gentleman - as is Jason Wilber and John Prine.

I am so very thankful for my Prine friends.  Living as remote as I do, the on line connection is very important for me.

I got to stratch a few names off my Prine Bucket Telephone List this year, I love doing that.  Dial up and all you have in common is Prine - you chat - before you know it - you have several ideas to yap about.  It just flows - like a broken down dam.

I am thankful for my Noisemaker, geez and smucksville I would like to whip that fellow with a flinger.  But eh, and wowsville - we will be together forever - he is kind of 'golden'.  Yeppers, he is in the golden age of life.

57 seems like a good age, on my birthday I was thankful to speak with my brother - we laughed, we Prine - big time.  Always the first laugh is - eh, we are the same age now.  My brother was born January 1955 - I was born December 1955.  It is so special to lip flap with him.

May you and yours find happiness and peace in 2013.  ah, throw in some John Prine, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and perhaps some of us will do the Luke!

Happy New Year!

John Prine - Remembering Vancouver

Today, I am sitting here remembering John Prine, Vancouver.  I am listening to Saddle In The Rain from the cd, In Person and On Stage.  When I was at the concert I walked up to the stage for picture taking time.  Unfortunately, or fortunately, I hit the incorrect button and sported out a video of a small part of Paradise.  It is one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time.  It is so me, full of excitement.  I am somewhat focused when I begin, but the handclapping starts so I let go of the camera so I can clap (good thing I have a neck strap).  Then you see floor, I remember my camera, my camera...I focus it up again and realize at that point I am on video.  I start hand clappin' again and you see floor.  I am laughing so hard here, my stomach is starting to hurt.  I wish I could send it along to you folks, I have tried.  Because I am on this (many curse words) dial up, it continually times out on me.

I was remembering too when we walked to the concert; my word there were so many people.  Way too many for a lady from the mountain side, but it was Prine night.  Brett went first, then Janis, and then me.  We had to move with the crowd, Janis turns to me and says...don't get lost, Bev...I replied, it is okay, I am hanging on to your bag.  She had her Play One For Crusher bag.  Good lord, I was hanging on for dear life.

It was such a fun weekend, a memory I will keep forever.

Thanks and hugs to Brett and Janis Ferguson.

Thank you John Prine, Jason Wilber, and very special thanks to David Jacques.

David Jacques

Back in 2009, I received from Charlene Stevenson, a John Prine Hatch print.  I was able in October 2009 to have John Prine/Jason Wilber sign it; but I could not locate David Jacques to complete.

I am extremely happy to report, the Hatch Print is complete.  I was standing on a street corner and who do I see walking - David Jacques.  I called out, David - David - caught his attention.  I extended my hand and said - hello - my name is Beverlee Traxler and proceeded to tell him about my Hatch print.  We walked on over to the cement wall and he signed my Hatch print.  We chatted.  He has much love for his family, warmed my heart.  Such a gentleman he was.  Holy smucksville, I near forgot about the cookies I had baked prior to leaving the mountain side.  I reached to my bag and said, oh yes David I baked up some cookies for you folks, chocolate chunk cookies.  My word, his eyes sparkled, his heart was warmed.  I told him, that he would have to share with the fellows.  I hope they were good, I did not have any, I made three dozen and bagged them up for my Prine road trip.  Oh, right, I had a picture posted prior.

I, then, said to David that I had best let him get on with his day, I thanked him, and again extended my hand.  I depart and get about two blocks towards the Blue Umbrella and think to myself - you forgot to take a picture.  I could not believe I had done this and start talking to myself, cursing at myself.  I was taken in the moment, a special moment indeed - with David Jacques.

John Prine - Vancouver Here I Come

Vancouver Here I Come

I'm gonna get on the old Greyhound and I'm gonna ride
Take the dirt road right down the mountain side
The Skunkeyes will join me and John Prine we will see
Vancouver here I come from the mountain side, B.C.

Vancouver is where I was before I came here
Working for a card company, tryin' to make everyone sincere
One early Saturday morning, the telephone it did ring
Skunk said, John Prine - Vancouver, BC - he will sing

I'm gonna get on the old Greyhound and I'm gonna ride
Take the dirt road right down the mountain side
The Skunkeyes will join me and John Prine we will see
Vancouver here I come from the mountain side, B.C.

John Prine - In Person And On Stage - oh my I can't miss this
I baked cookies for Jason, John, and that one that is a miss
David Jacques, the bass player - that is who I am looking for
But John Prine would be a bonus, behind that old green door

John Prine - Montclair

Thank You - Sue - great photo.

I see she was able to get David Jacques to sign.  Oh my, that man to me - well, I cannot ever find him.  2005 in Vancouver - I asked Jason where he might be located, Jason replied - at a bar up the street.  eh, right - I am not walking anywhere in the streets of Vancouver, alone.  It was all I could do to cross the street and meet - oh yes, who was that man I went to see...John Prine.

2009, I saw David on stage but I could not locate him outside, you know behind the 'green' door.  teehee.  I did get my picture taken with him and Jason, but I did not have the Hatch print.

This time, I am on a mission - David Jacques - I am coming to find you.  I need your autograph to complete my Hatch Print.

Perhaps, I should bring a few Prine incidentals.  Imagine, walking down the streets of Vancouver and - oops, oh lord, I stumble right into John Prine.  If you knew how my two left feet do not work right...well...it could happen.

I do wonder if Ben will be there.  Ben will, he is always there.  Ben, Prines' well, he works at the post office.

Prine - 10 more days + 1 wake up - Vancouver!
