John Prine ~ Vancouver ~ 2016/July ~ Incidentals. . .

My recent departure off this cursed mountain side to see John Prine in Vancouver, British Columbia has somewhat made me come to see a light bulb...ideas ~ possibilities ~ and being thankful.

In honestly is not too harsh in living here compared to the lower mainland of my beautiful province.  I have fresh air to take in, my air does not contain any smog, and people wave/stop/chat say hello in there.  There is no noise, it is calm and peaceful - I live near a lake and our home banks on a creek.

Yes, the winters are long, I must start to think of winter activities to partake in - soon!  I knit, I participate in community events and fundraisers.

Yes, I made knitting this Prine go-a-round for the ladies of the artists - the Mrs. of Prine/Jacques/Wilber.  I hope they all find a smile in homemade gifts.  It is a pleasure to make homemade gifts.

Destination Vancouver - you will be told to the hotel to which you stay - do not wear anything that will attract people of the undesirable nature to you.  That translates to women wearing big diamonds, men wear jerseys/hockey jackets.  It is best to leave that all at home.

I have know this for many a year, so yes, my wedding rings, etc., were removed before I left the mountain side.  geez, what a nice way to have to live. . .

Upon a very late arrival to my destination, I was greeted by fair skies and the anticipation of Prine the following day weighed heavy on my mind.  Would everything go right - would something go sideways (if so, what is my back up plan - smucksville?).

All did go relatively well, as planned, and my security was good.  My mind was not so secure in walking the streets near my hotel.

I did good.  I made it off the mountain side and returned safely ~ without getting robbed, raped, or murdered.

As for the Venue of Prine - Vogue - Vancouver - excellent.  The sound was great.  Seating not so great - to the four tall guys that sat in front of me...smucksville, you made me 'one sit leg' throughout the entire concert.  I loved how you chatted with your heads touching each other.  If I had my flingers, I would have tapped you on the head and said...buddies - let us break this up...short people are behind you.  I did not have flingers, but I did briefly stand up and knock the shoulders...like get it you fn lunactics -  lol.

Glad to see John Prine again, very glad.  I do not see in my future this will happen again...this was my last Prine Merry-Go-Round.  John will be celebrating his 70th birthday this year in October.  As will my Noisemaker...yikers, he will be 70 this month.

Best wishes to both.  All The Best to my Noisemaker and John Prine.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Postman

Happy Birthday, Mr. Postman - and the postman is not John Prine.

The retired Postman/Lettercarrier is my brother - the one who Prines'.  Happy 59th Birthday!

Generally, the scenario of this day goes - I call - I receive the answering machine - I sing - and wish All The Best and life carries on.

oh, ah, eh, - today I got an answer!  My brother states - yes, I am another year older.

Oh my, we talked and lip flapped hours - almost four hours.  It was delightful - so happy, such fun to reminisce.  To speak of our lives now.  Grandchildren, children taking care of children.   Prine and lets us all Prine on.  Oh, but did you hear of Neil...Bruce.  My word we talk of them like they are part of family growing up in northern British Columbia.

A fine conversation - he told me a story - well, it is not a story - it is true.  There a polish family that lives next door to him.  He was out sitting on his porch, a nice summers' day.  The polish man hears him and asks - may I bring my guitar.  My brother acknowledges.  They play a few tunes together...then the fellow says...I heard you sing/play something about Paradise...we played that before remember.  My brother says, yes.  It is John Prine - Paradise.

Wesley says every guitar note was hit perfectly from one man born in Poland and one man born in Canada.  They shook hands - my brother asked - would you like to bring your family over....

New Years and past Christmas days have come and gone...do you know Souvenirs, I can teach you that - it is a Steve Goodman song.

The family comes and what a great time they had.  They Prine.  Wes get the word book out so everyone can sing.  It is Prine Time, at the greatest.

My brother will be into surgery soon, I hope.  He has developed a cataract.  Probably some or injury from too many days of hockey, baseball, or what - have - you - sports he took part in. He will be fine, he is my brother.

I love you, my brother.  I will love you forever.

I love you, goodnight.

Yes - as we are trying to head out down the country road - the cows came to wish us a safe trip.  The heathens.  My word - paddies all over the road, but eh the government of the day, keeps it all in rancher style - free range run.

So Happy, I Am

It is so nice to have a brand new computer. I am loading programs in and soon all will be on the side of normal.

My days without the computer were spent stacking wood and splitting wood. We had 3 cords of wood delivered - hell, I was seeing wood in my dreams. We have about 1 cord left to do before the snow flys. It is a big job for the noisemaker and I. However, I have two new degrees to add to my resume - Professional Wood Stacker and Professional Wood Splitter. I will be, as noisemaker will be - glad when it is all finished, stacked and split in the woodshed.

I also have started on 7 new rodeo candles. Wow - the wood is very nice. I have the wood done, the horseshoes cleaned - I have to krylon up the shoes. Then place everything together. Maybe by that time I will have the camera hooked up so I can post photos.

Tomorrow John Prine will be in Madison - it will be the concert of the year. I have a friend who lives in Madison - Charlene. She, of course, will be in attendance waving her banner high, toe tappin', john prinein'....and doing the paradise wave when the song Paradise is played. Oh Johnny. I will be wearing my I Heart Johnny t-shirt tomorrow; so as I can think I am there *she does the paradise wave* - says oh johnny. . .Reeda and her husband will be there also, along with RuthAnn and the sisters (to which I cannot remember their names). I will be there in Prine spirit. I wish I could meet you all; one day I will.

Oh yes, I near forgot - the cows are still running wild. I was told that I am not to yell at the cows. Smucksville, did I have words for the person that tried to put that big pie on me. That is pure hogwash.

The deer are visiting every morning. A doe with her twins - geez, they are so cute. Also two bucks (they're big boys) are hanging around looking for ladies to court. Two chipmonks have come to feed in the bird feeder, the lil darlins. All the animals - I tell you, you just want to hug them - they are family.

Cow Chasin'

These big heathens came to visit me early this morning. I have been on cow duty endlessly today. Smucksville, there was a bull out there that had to have weighed in at 2,000 lbs. He was huge. I had my stick with me and starting hollering (no need to type the words I used). I was so loud, Noisemaker came running out...wondering...

I gave my stick to Noisemaker, he is braver than I. I stood back and did the handclappin'.

Just when you think they have left, 20 more show up.

The dark brown heathen in the picture tried to stare me down, he did not win - I did!

My Cow Family

There has been a lot of chatter about cows recently and I remembered a nice christmas card I received from k47 back in December 2005. 2005 we had just moved to the mountain side and I was not quite acquainted with the cow system as I am today.

Geez, I tell ya - if all the cows I see looked like the one on the christmas card, I'd be the happiest cow chaser in North America!

This is the front of the christmas card. The photo does not give credit as it should (it is the photographer). There are sparkles and udders - it truly looks like a happy cow skipping over the lake.

This is the inside of the card. It has to be a female cow as the mouth opens wide and below the eyes are dangling christmas lights! k47 has a very good imagination.

No offensive to k47 but the first cow I see in May, I shall name it k47 and by no means will it look as attractive as the cow in the picture.

I hope you all had a mooey christmas and a very happy moo year.

Thanks k47.
