Chris Knight

Photo - www.chrisknight.net

This guy is good, I am impressed - thank you, Chad.

I have listened to it twice, Trailer Tapes II and I promised myself not to get stuck. I tend to get stuck on one song and forget to move on.

Two songs that are very good are Old Man and Send A Boat.

Chris Knight, I would recommend. His words, his music - five stars, and he ain't shy on looks.

Thanks, Chad (now go, have a whiskey).

Sad Yet Happy!

Oh is not that such a typical woman - sad yet Happy! No! Men are like that too, but the catch being they do not admit it.

I am a bit tearful today, today is five years since my four legged love past away. Geez, I miss him so much, I can still smell his fur, his scent. I love him so much. We had great times together. I recalled today. One day, I was doing my hair with a blow dryer and a brush. Luv was in the bathroom with me, I started to sing his favorite song - Happy Birthday To You! He loved that song. I really was not paying any attention to the hair thing or the blow dryer, I was more interested in singing and dancing. In seconds, I had that brush tied up in my hair so tight, I had to call up Noisemaker.

There was nothing that could be done, just mega, mega laughter. I called the hairdresser up and lucky larue, I was able to get an appointment asap! I wore a hooded jacket because the hairbrush was tied up with my hair, I did not want to go out looking like an alien. With a bit of cutting and de-tieing, the hairdresser was able to untie my locks.

I miss you, my boy - and I love you, forever.

On the happy end, well that young Chad, I received his parcel today. Oh my, I have music in the mail to last me a year! Chris Knight, Malcolm Holcombe, Gram Parsons, and the Darrell Scott! Smucksville! I have much to be thankful for ~ and, I have such good Prine friends - thank you Chad.

Look What Came To Visit Me!

Smucksville, A Bear! Great Mother of God, I panicked.

This morning started out no different than any other morning. I made coffee and went out to sit on the chair on the porch, it is very peaceful at 5 a.m. No Noisemaker.

While I am sitting looking over the creek towards the pond, I noticed this black thing...first I thought, geez that is a big dog and what the hell is it doing over there...then the animal raised on up. Yikers, I knew I was looking at a big, huge, bear. My first reaction was to run and then I thought eh, there is water between us and the door to the home is only steps away from me. So I stood there watching it. It was fishing and doing a mighty good job of it.

We will probably have quite a few bears around this summer as we have millions and million of berries. I will have to aware when I go outside, it is bear time.

Later, Noisemaker and I walked to the creek (I wasn't going down there by myself). There are so many wildflowers here, they are all so pretty. Wild Columbine, Wild Gerainium, Daisies Galore, Indian Paintbrushes, Lupins. There are two kinds of Wild Columbine - the pink and white ~ and the yellow and red. They are so delicate and beautiful.

Meatloaf for supper tonight - geez, I make a darn good meatloaf. I made lots, come on over and have some!

2 Bummed Wrists, 2 Eyes Near Blinded

About a month or so ago, I won an on line internet prize for some anti-age -stop the wrinkles from coming - cream. I decided to try it last night. Noisemaker was watching me, said - **** you will need a truckload of that to get rid of your wrinkles. He is so very kind. I followed the directions and rolled this wand across my puffy eyes. Within seconds, I am sneezing, wheezing - good christ, I can hardly breathe. I cannot see anything, it is a blur. I ran to the faucet and washed this product right off of my face. I have no idea what it has done to the septic.

This morning I was much better. The fresh air on the mountain side and the wildlife are captured in my memory. I was able to view an eagle as it glided down pond side, catch a fish.

My wrists are in a terrible state. I am about ready to call up the doctor in charge. But, it won't do no good. I know that using the right because I could not use the left has cause me pain. I am thankful to use all fingers to type. I alternate wrapping up the left in the morning, wrapping up the right in the evening.

Thankful for everything all my Prine friends send to the lady on the mountain side. Thankful for my brother too. You'll never know the elation of going to a rural mail box and then, oh eh, wow, a Prine moment. A magazine, a crossword book, cds (music in the mail). I am so thankful and I do appreciate it so very much. My Prine friends are so very thoughtful, kind, and generous!

...first the wildlife....

First, to death are the wildlife, the animals that live in the sea/the ocean - they call it home.

I love wildlife, I love birds. I love the ducks that reside here along, side by side, with the sandhill cranes. They nest here every year. There are, too numerous to count, eagles - with their babies. Ducks with their babies, it is the season for rearin' up the youngins' - not killing them.

Broken Hearts And Dirty Windows

Broken Hearts and Dirty Windows, Songs of John Prine.

I do not know who to thank for the photo, because I do not have the cd. However, someone came up with the concept, the design, the music - thank you all.

My prine friend from Virginia, Chad - oh the good young man, he is sending me this - such a flutter it can put me in. I tell ya, there is never anything finer than having a beer and listening to anything John Prine!

There is much chatter about Lambchop and the 6 o'clock news; Wedding Day in Funeralville - geez, maybe I wedded up there - hahaha -, no I wedded up on the coast of Oregon at Newport - holy crap - it was 10 years ago, we seem to have forgotten our anniversary, it was February.

I recall a line - the king and queen will alternate with the refrigerator light - I am alternating with my damn wrists...one day wrap the left, next day wrap the right. One day I hope to have it all straight - you know - on the Fair and Square.

My Home Smells Delightful

Supper tonight is pork roast and gravy, a new recipe I am sporting.

Wow - the aroma is ...well, makes you want to dig in and enjoy!

The recipe is:

2 1/2 lb. pork roast, trimmed
1 package dry onion soup mix
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 cup water

In a large fry pan, lightly brown pork roast on all sides. Transfer to slow cooker*. In small bowl, combine onion soup mix, cream soup, and water - stir well and pour over pork. Cover and cook for 7 - 8 hours on low until tender.

* I place peeled and cut up potatoes in the slow cooker first, then add the pork/gravy mixture.

Geez, I only have three more hours to taste - I can't wait. The aroma is devine. Now if I only had some new John Prine :)

I find it amazing how I can turn any post into a relation with John Prine...not all could qualify for this position, ya have to live on a mountain side!

Beaver Totems

Many moons ago where Noisemaker and I reside was much covered with water. Out in the woods, we stumbled across two poplar trees the beaver took for their dam.

I named them Elizabeth and Marie after the song of John Prine's Lake Marie. Geez, can you tell which is which? :)

I name everything, all the animals that come to visit me - the deer, all the birds. Oh yes, I have some real choice names for that piece of wildlife (my fine neighbor, Chris) next door.

Happy Father's Day!

To all my guy friends out there, Happy Father's Day!

I miss my Dad - he past away in October of 2003. Geez, we had a great time together, he was a very good Dad. What I miss most besides the time I spent with my Dad, is the talking of politics. We could jabber forever on politicking.

My Dad would always let me try things - like re-wiring my 1969 Volvo or putting in a new floor. He would sit there and tell me what to do, I would do it, and oh boy did I learn! He would teach me plumbing - he was a plumber/pipefitter by trade. My brothers were not really interested in the trade thing, but I sure was. I remember when I came home from school one day and announced I am taking woodworking. Both my Dad and Mom just thought...oh well, that is Bev - let her go. I came home with a beautiful teak coffee table. They were impressed.

My Dad is my hero - he always will be.

My Backyard

yep, 'all the snow has turned to water', thus making the creek flow really good.

This is my backyard. Lots of fish, lots of eagles, and lots of deer.

A beautiful, peaceful place. There are days, like today, I find this so precious and I am so thankful for it.
