John Prine 1975

Fine Prine time 1975 May - Vancouver, B.C.

Oh my, is not he a handsome young fellow. Now he is over 60 and a handsome gentleman, indeed.

I also saw John Prine in Vancouver, October 22, 1976. I saw clippings in the box I unearthed, newspaper clippings in black and white.

Missing Years must have fallen upon me as I did not see John Prine until 2005. I know he was in Vancouver in 1996, I had just moved to a suburb of Vancouver. Noisemaker was makin' noises, my Dad came down for open heart surgery, I was stressed and too busy to be a prinein'.

ah, good grief, the same Prine flutter I had back then remains with me today, it just grows stronger.

Mothers' Day

Geez, I almost forgot Mothers' Day is nearing. I loved, so much my Mom. I can still smell the scent of her lipstick. She wore bright red, she passed away, with pretty pink. Her lipstick was always placed in the same spot, on the right side of the bathroom sink.

My Mom loved Tender Tootsies, those flip flop things - like in the picture. She did not flip/flop like a politician does. She had strength, she was stable. Mom grew up on a farm, worked her butt off. She met my Father on a blind date, wedded bliss - a small civil ceremony at the city hall.

In remembering Mothers' Day, well - that is sort of/kind of our anniversary, the noisemaker and I. 25 years. Good Grief!

When I left my hometown to move with noisemaker, I purchased for my Mom a huge bouquet of fresh flowers. I went to the flower shop and asked if they could included this in the bouquet. It was a small lady friendly screwdriver. Mom always wanted one of those for her purse. The bouquet was beautiful, about ten days after she called me up and said, Bev - I found the screwdriver...only you would do something like that!

I love you always, Mom - I miss you.

It Is A Full Moon Tonight

Extremely peaceful here today, even the eagles have become quite sedate - all the wildlife has. Well, the exception of my fine neighbor, Chris.

The full moon does and always has affected folks. For those who tend to differ, well - you have not watched and listened to yourself. When the full moon occurs in your sign, yep watch out - you are in Wacko-ville!

I have visited Wacko-ville, it is not Prineville - not even close. Speaking of Prine, less than one month until OhBoy releases In Person & On Stage. That constitutes until two months for arrival. Exciting just the same. I really hope I do not get the crossing of the border fees. Yikers, I could well pay $100.00 for the Collector Combo set.

John Prine management should have a distribution centre, a branch in Canada. I'm game, I am not a moose, nor a cow. Yep, I can see it now - headline on blog reads

~ John Prine - Canada Welcomes ~

John Prine - Madison, WI - 2010.09.17

Prine Fans will be flocking on into the venue of the Overture on September 17th, 2010. Madison, Wisconsin.
Some Priners/Prinettes will be there in spirit, others will be there in person.
For now, I am going with Tom Reynolds (Crusher). He will flutter on in big time. The wings of se and jpp will carry him on him. We are from the north.
We have wings of a snow white dove.
Who is beaming in this photo?
Charlene Stevenson with Al Bunetta (management of John Prine).
I would just call the fellow, Al. The last name, how does one say...
Bun - etta? Bune-tta?
I must ask....you know when I meet him. ;)

I Don't Have A Subject

I don't have a subject, I have many. Of course, I could post and new subject - but eh, time is precious, like us all.

I did not get to view the Elvis Costello Bruce Springsteen - part one. Noisemaker had to watch some program on Hilter. I have, I hope reserved the tv for the part two viewing on May 1st.

We went to the village today, the doctors' appointment. I am a small picture of health. My bone structure is good. I have a 20% chance in 20 years of breaking a bone - that is as long as I do not fall on my perch. The doctor in charge, well - he understands - how I broke the wrist. The dancing on ice with no control swing dance. Now, if I can have clear sailing with my beating heart and decrease on the cigarette smoking - lordy - I'll be prinein' forever.

At the drugmart today, I noticed a sad, little girl in a motorized wheelchair. She smiled at me. I returned the smiled, waved, and noticed a man near to her. I said hello and waved. The young girl started to make sounds - the man walked away - I walked towards her. I waved, I said holy doodle, it is a stormy day out there. She sort of lowered her head and said words. I could not understand them but I proceeded. I holy doodled for a minute or so, she did sounds, the man came back. He nodded at me - said thanks. I said, it is nice to be acknowledged, to be said hello to, nodded.

I removed myself from the store, went to the vehicle, and cried.

Sometimes, you think you have not played your cards right or left in life. Then you see someone who never got the chance.

Spectacle Springsteen Saturday

ah yes, in Canada - today - we finally are able to view Spectacle - Elvis Costello with Bruce Springsteen, oh the hunk! Check your local CTV listings.

My fine neighbor, Chris, dropped by this morning to return noisemakers' hat. Apparently, noisemaker lost it on Thursday when he decided he should visit Linda on Mars. Smucksville, must have been quite a sight, a sight to which I was glad not to behold.

Chris mentioned today that on his tv schedule he saw a show, Spectacle Elvis Costello - and did you know Bev - John Prine was on there! I thanked him for thinking of John Prine and I. Thanked him for saving noisemakers' life.

John Prine - In Person & On Stage

Holy Smucksville - can you believe it - here is the picture and I know ohboy records is just waiting for my telephone call. I must dial them up today and speak with Jon. I'll be thrilled, I love talking to folks on the telephone. I know the young lad will be busy filling up orders (see more at http://www.musicfansdirect.com/ or http://www.jpshrine.org/).

I could well chatter on and on (be in prineville flutter) and tell Jon about living on the mountain side in the middle of nowhere but I probably will calmly say, it is a nice sunny day here - how is Nashville?

Lydia is doing very well, she has not stumbled, her head has not broken and rolled down the hill, she remains a picture of lasting beauty. We had rain/snow/sleet the other afternoon, did not have any effect on the big Lydia. She was cool, I thought I should go and put some rain gear on her, but I am trying to teach her to be strong with the elements of nature. As soon as I can locate the location of where noisemaker has hidden the batteries (I hope they are eveready), I shall take a photo of her beauty - every inch of it and share it with you folks. I forgot to mention, she has Prine fingers. The suncatchers - 'P' for Prine. They so sparkle in the sun, you can see the colors of the rainbow. Although as my fine neighbor, Chris will tell ya - he sees more than the colors of the rainbow.

Wildlife

We have a flutter of activity. Sandhill cranes - a pleasure to see. The eagles have returned in full force. The deer - well there were 12 here this morning.
The early morning activity is a workout. You do not know which window to look out. I braved the factors and went out to join them. It was 6 o'clock a.m. , it is raining, it is cold - no place for a 54 year old.
It is a tough trough to plough for Noisemaker. He appreciates the wildlife what he does not appreciate, is toe tappin' - head noddin' - john prinein' near dawn.

Hold Your Spark, It's Religion

I have viewed some posts over the past couple of days about folks and their valuable religion points of view. I am glad they have their treasures.

I do not spark religion, the only religion I have is mine. It is my faith and my point of view. It does not constitute kneeling or praying. My knees would never hold up, I cannot bring my left hand to clasp with the right.

Court religion, a lot of folks do. I am not one of them. My Dad had it drilled into his skull, whereby his Mother and Father, prayed to the holy on Sunday morning and drank whiskey Sunday evening. But eh, could not feed all their children on any given day. My Dad broke into homes of folks, just to get food. He stole cheese, eggs, anything from a freeze box. He would take it home to his younger siblings and no doubt, probably just sat down and wondered - why.

My Mother, she believed - she always said she wanted The Old Rugged Cross played at her funeral service (my brothers could not quite get that together) - {no problem, I played it for her last time I visited her, I sang it to her from John Prine/Mac Wiseman -Standard Songs For Average People}

About the nearness I can get to religion is some song by John Prine - The Missing Years.
....and jesus said god...

God, I want to win lotto. God, I want a big huge bust like Dolly Parton. God, can you help me?

Oh yes, god if you are listening to me - send me John Prine and his family - Fiona and the kids. A lovely little hideaway nestled up in the mountains of rural British Columbia. God, tell him to bring his guitar, bring two. Do not venture up before the month of August - my left is broken, I am one armed.

Oh no, I do not have a gun, but I have a high pressured washer, holy smuckville. Noisemaker fixed it up today. PSI, no words.

Trying to focus, god does not focus well on me. He makes me step on to the porch. He makes me smoke a cigarette and jabber to the Noisemaker. And, god - this is life on the mountain side.

Focus - oh yes, the new John Prine. I tried to dial up to MFD/OhBoy, it was not my time. Tomorrow, I will kneel down and pray I get through.

Our Johnny who arts in Nashville
Thy day for your cd (and I love Johnny t-shirt) nears
Thy will be Prineville on the mountain side
As it is in Nashville, forever and ever - Prine Amen.

Lydia

I have been reconstructing Lydia, my scarecrowette this morning/afternoon. Oh, she does look delightful. A new blue ensemble with celtic trim suspenders and matching belt. Her red lips are of the red light district but do highlight the red in floral scarf which graces her slim neck. The wind was blowing hard after I got her all erected and poor Lydia hit the dirt. I leaned her up on a tree and gathered her attire but then she fell again. Her head broke, it went rolling down the hill, I could not hang on to all her body parts. While her head was rolling down the hill, I had her in my right arm doing the best I could do. Who shows up, my fine neighbor - Chris. He starts laughing and says to me....Oh Lydia - Bev - she is broken and where the *+c& is her head...here let me help you. Chris takes Lydia and props her up on the picnic table. She needed to rest after that ordeal.

Noisemaker came out and assessed the hole I had dug for Lydia. It needed to be bigger, prined up. So I dug the hole, slapped some bricks around the right pole of her body and in the ground she went. She is still standing. Tomorrow or later on this afternoon could be a different story. If I find her on her back again well, I will know Donald has paid a visit.

John Prine Drawing

John Prine as drawn by my great nephew, Brayden. Ain't it cool.  Talented young man he is, 14 years old, and loves to draw. B...
