Kokanee Spawn

Before my digital lost a digit I was able to take this photo of the kokanee fish spawning creekside. It is a wonderful site to see, a site of nature at its' finest.

The creek today has about 30 dead kokanee; the eagles and the rest of the birds are feasting kokanee delight!

The kokanee spawn generally begins around mid September; goes for about two weeks.

I could spend all day at the creek watching the spawn. When they do the turtle dove; side by side - well, you just do not see that everyday.

I forgot to mention because I got wrapped up in Bruce Springsteen's birthday - September 23rd was our 5 year anniversary for living mountain side. I am surprised I made it!

John Prine - Madison -STJPP

Yep, put your best Prine foot forward!

STJPP - Strike The John Prine Pose - noted they are not leaning on the left leg in the parking lot dirt. My take, hardwood floors - constitutes - left leg activity.

Mark and John Prine

I was trying to post this for Mark on his birthday, the learning curve was not coming in strong.

Tomorrow Mark will see John Prine in Duluth, Minnesota. Mark is having a John Prine filled birthday celebration week!

Mark turned 55 and he was born in 1955 - I think that means it is his golden year!

Best Wishes, Mark
Great Days!

Wildberry

Oh my, I am having quite the time posting photos here, a learning curve.

Our digital camera lost a digit, a new one is in order.

Wildberry, the title of this post.

Can you relate when a person writes something to you and you read it an entirely different way. This happen to me with the wildberry. Recently, a good friend of mind sent me some 'wildberry' candy corn. Smucksville, I have never had wildberry candy corn. A note was attached to the bag of wildberry corn. . .I read it as...when my Mom was alive and she disliked something, she would always say 'wildberry'. I thought 'smucksville', this is a good thing.

Smucksville can be used as a good term or bad. Either way, depending on how the writer/speaker utilizes it.

I emailed my friend and relayed to what I thought 'wildberry'. The response I received was 'I do not know what you are talking about'....I returned email saying...the note you sent said wildberry blah, blah, blah.

Return emails written says (with mega laughter); the note is recalled and explains to me the way it wanted to be understood.

My claim is, a new word - Wildberry.

Definition - two fold, can be used when you dislike something or you like something similiar to Smucksville!

Now if I can just get the photo correct, I shall go to post - Wildberry!

Birthday Greetings

Happy Birthday, Mark. I think you are approaching your golden year - you were born in 1955 and you turn 55. I was trying hard to get a picture here of you and John Prine but I could not import it. I must check the settings. I hope you enjoy the John Prine concert tonight, I know you will! What a great way to celebrate your birthday.

Noisemaker and I finally completed the wood. It is all split, stacked, and the wood splitting area cleaned up. Smucksville that was a big, big job.

Neil Young/John Prine

oh, it is a WOW moment, minutes. I just watched Neil Young (Thank you - Bill Laing) www.billlaing.com
Smucksville...

This computer screen is 24", I am at a movie house. John Prine never looked so fine, I watched those cd's from Tom Reynolds.

Long May You Run.

It Is A Beautiful Day

I was out splitting wood before sunrise this morning; there was just me and one lone female deer. It was peaceful, very peaceful. At first light the herons came by ready to fetch on in a fish or two. The kokanee fish are easy for them to catch, they have a great feast as do the eagles.

Noisemaker is trying to install the photo program, I do not think he is having much luck as when I went to see the photos I took yesterday ... hmm.... it is a blank folder. Sometimes I think he is blank in the category of the mind. But, eh - he is trying his best.

Today is John Prine ~ Madison. While I was outside splitting wood I was singing that song, I call it the Numbers Song....that one with 6 million....33 lights on. It is titled I Ain't Hurtin' Nobody, I think. Anyway, I changed up the words to say...you think that people would get the words right to Johns' songs. Then, I had major giggles. I laughed so hard I had to lean on the splitter and hold my stomach. I proceeded to dance a step or two; do the hula.

My friend, Chad - he and his wife-to-be are off to the Bristol Folk Festival this weekend - great line up. Bristol - in Virginia - and that is far, far from me!

I am happy for all the music happening this weekend - happy, too for the folks celebrating birthdays. Rumbleshorts and Knik - Happy Birthday. Rumble - I will give you a separate post tomorrow. I have to try and locate up a photo for you.

Great Days, indeed.

So Happy, I Am

It is so nice to have a brand new computer. I am loading programs in and soon all will be on the side of normal.

My days without the computer were spent stacking wood and splitting wood. We had 3 cords of wood delivered - hell, I was seeing wood in my dreams. We have about 1 cord left to do before the snow flys. It is a big job for the noisemaker and I. However, I have two new degrees to add to my resume - Professional Wood Stacker and Professional Wood Splitter. I will be, as noisemaker will be - glad when it is all finished, stacked and split in the woodshed.

I also have started on 7 new rodeo candles. Wow - the wood is very nice. I have the wood done, the horseshoes cleaned - I have to krylon up the shoes. Then place everything together. Maybe by that time I will have the camera hooked up so I can post photos.

Tomorrow John Prine will be in Madison - it will be the concert of the year. I have a friend who lives in Madison - Charlene. She, of course, will be in attendance waving her banner high, toe tappin', john prinein'....and doing the paradise wave when the song Paradise is played. Oh Johnny. I will be wearing my I Heart Johnny t-shirt tomorrow; so as I can think I am there *she does the paradise wave* - says oh johnny. . .Reeda and her husband will be there also, along with RuthAnn and the sisters (to which I cannot remember their names). I will be there in Prine spirit. I wish I could meet you all; one day I will.

Oh yes, I near forgot - the cows are still running wild. I was told that I am not to yell at the cows. Smucksville, did I have words for the person that tried to put that big pie on me. That is pure hogwash.

The deer are visiting every morning. A doe with her twins - geez, they are so cute. Also two bucks (they're big boys) are hanging around looking for ladies to court. Two chipmonks have come to feed in the bird feeder, the lil darlins. All the animals - I tell you, you just want to hug them - they are family.

I Have Returned!

Oh, how I love the computer - let me count the ways.

The communication, I cannot believe I am addicted to a black box. Geez, I missed everyone so much.

I am glad to be back on line with a new computer.

Thank you everyone for visiting my blog - even though I had a petit departure.
