David Gray

Recently, a Prine friend of mine sent me a cd - The Greatest Hits - David Gray.

Oh my. I have never heard of David Gray previously but today I took the mini cd player and went out to the backyard - sat down and listen to David Gray.

Unfortunately, I have a tendency to get stuck like a band aide on songs that ring true to me. I have a band aide stuck on me today - it is called ~ The One I Love ~ David Gray.

What a beautiful song, geez I could waltz across Texas or Canada to that song. I love the turtle dove line. I love turtle dovin'! I am trying to recall a John Prine to where he used the words turtle dovin'...but it is not coming to me because I have the headphones on listening to ~The One I Love ~ David Gray.

Mrs. and Mr. Skunkeye - thank you.

The Big Door Prize(s)

Thank you Diana for the photo.

My granddaughter, Kayla (11) and I (54) the day we won the prize baskets at our community bake sale.

I received two prints from Diana. I am going to purchase two frames and mail one off for Kayla, keep one for myself. I also received the write-up that was published in our community paper to which I will send for Kayla.

She will be beaming when she receives it. I emailed to my stepson (her Dad) the write-up, etc. He replied ~ Thanks, Bev - I am not giving anything for Kayla now, we will wait until your parcel arrives. She is going to love this. ~

Probably as much as I love it. To be 11 years old, come to Gramma's home and win the kids prize basket is a treasure she will remember forever.

I recall us singing in Spite of Ourselves after we brought our prize baskets home...'honey we got the big door prize' and then we would wink and hi5.

John Prine - Little Rock

Just a Prine Red Glow.

Thank you Susan Daniels for the photo from the Robinson Music Hall in Little Rock.

I think Susan was in big time Prine glow. Anyone who attends a John Prine concert gets the Prine glow. Heck I have had a strong one since May 1975 when I first saw John Prine. It went to super nova in August of 2005 and again in October 2009.

Lemon Minis

Geez, aren't they cute! The ladies will love them. They are for our ladies auxiliary luncheon, tomorrow. Lemon cupcakes with gold foil cupcake liners, vanilla icing, candies, and sugar sprinkles. It is a fun time, I enjoy to get out of the house and see other people. This is our last meeting until October however; in the summer months we have Bingo every Wednesday - I bake for that too. I am forever baking. It is the least I can do for our rural, small community.

D Day

Photo - thank you, life.com

Yes June 6th. I remember asking my Dad what is this D-Day? We had a great discussion on it - geez, I miss my Dad.

He was a veteran of WWII, never went overseas - was injured. Had his left arm split in two. Was disabled. He educated himself to the trade of plumbing/pipefitting, instrumental in forming the Union of 238.

Our remaining family has his medals, also his brothers', Robert - MIA, Ansio, Italy.

I have much to be thankful, as do most people.

Miss Erna - John Prine - Memphis

Photo - Thank you Donna Laurent Palmer.
Miss Erna is near 80 years old. She strolled on up to stage front while John Prine/David Jacques/Jason Wilber and Keith Sykes were singing Paradise. According to Donna, David smiled sweetly at her.
Later, she planted a big huge kiss on John Prine. Geez, he looks pretty happy - he has a fan club of ladies from 10 to near 90 years of age. Our Johnny.
When I grow up I want to be like Miss Erna. I somehow doubt that is going to happen. After all I still wear gum boots and every puddle I see, yep - I stomp in them. Then, I skip alone the country road and sing!

Memphis Belles

Photo - Thank you Donna Laurent Palmer. Taken in Donna's Volkswagon.

Donna and Charlene after the Prine Memphis concert. You can see Prine happiness in their faces.

I can picture them toe tappin', head noddin', John Prinein' at the concert. It must have been one of the best Prine concerts ever.

What a great picture! Keith Sykes, John Prine, and David Jacques.

Geez, it must have been something to hear/see them play Paradise.

Those are mighty fine looking boots Keith Sykes is wearing and look at the nice tie John is wearing. Lordy, they are all so handsome; ya just want to hug 'em.

John Prine - Memphis - Keith Sykes

Geez, what I would give to walk on the streets of Memphis - especially tonight. Seeing Keith Sykes and John Prine together - yep - to me it is Paradise!

Yep, I think the lady folk, without question, will be dazzled by the good looks of Jason Wilber, Keith Sykes, David Jacques, and John Prine.

Long May You Run - Neil Young

Geez, it is like Christmas here. I received parcels from OhBoy Records, Naj, and my brother.

Naj sent a parcel suited in the ensemble to which I would wear, a craft book, pink lipstick, and lifesavers. A Greatest Hits by David Gray - lord have mercy, I have not heard one greatest hit by him.

I can be pretty in pink, with headphones listening to David Gray, out in the wild!

OhBoy - yep - the poster not of an old Rodeo. It is In Person & On Stage. I shall have John Prine sign on up that - you know - the next time we meet. hahaha! I may have to send it back to OhBoy and ask because folks I do not believe I am going to see John Prine again,....and again!

oh, eh, and wow - my brother sent me Neil Young - Long May You Run - The Illustrated History by Daniel Durchholz and Gary Graff. Smucksville!

I just sit here and smile. I have great friends, I have a great family. All are a treasure.

Long May You Run.

Worms, Worms, and More Worms

I understand certain people/animals/politicians/government officials (et al), do have a purpose in life. For the life of me, I do not understand what it is.

Certain people can and do elevate my blood pressure; probably more than the noisemakers' is. Certain animals like worms; well - really anything bug wise or reptile wise, I do not deal well with. Anything foreign, I am not on the same level.

I try my best for people of a foreign country, but geez, sometimes it just does not work - it does not blend. I think my fine neighbor Chris is foreign, I think he is alien.

Early this morning I was outside, lord have mercy - there was a worm. That worm was well over 7" long and fat. It was huge. I called to the robins - no robin came. The silly worm slither underneath the house. I went and got noisemaker. I do not sing to worms. Noisemaker tells me, leave it be.

I go out walking and find another big huge worm drowning in a puddle. Puddles, when I see one, I stop. I stomp. It is fun! I have my rubber boots on and live up well to a nickname I had as a young girl ~ Stompa!

I got a stick and flicked out that worm from the water. I felt like a Red Cross Nurse. I did not stick around to see if it lived, I was thanking myself for the strength I had, to give it a chance.

Now, how am I going to get John Prine tied into Worms, Worms, and More Worms.

Smucksville - I just did!
